Setting up my Stratus tail.

Ok, what is the right way to set up a tail? I know mine is wrong, but I have been flying it this way since it was an Extreme. About 1/2 travel on my stick gives me 100% tail movement, and the servo stalls. I run the 611 gyro, and cutting travel down to about 35% almost does it, but I know that's not right. I tried a shorter servo arm, but it doesn't help, and also throws the goemetry off.

Do I use ATVs in my radio to cut down servo throw?

No, you really need to read the manual for the specifics, I don't have that model but here are shortcuts;
BIG servo output wheel.
tail pitch slider at 90*
servo wheel ball at 90*
Initialize menu on gyro amp box
*set limits* (On gyro)
confirm settings for gain
Fly.
switch to Normal mode, note drift of tail
adjust long rod length to stop drift.
Flip into HH and fly.
