Ok everyone, I've gotten pretty far on my build, but have run into a problem (hopefully not too serious). On the right side aileron linkage and the elevator push-rod assembly, the two seem to be pressing up against each other. Any suggestions? I've verified that all of the linkages in all areas are the proper length.

Byron, I'm surprised no one's answered this for you yet; however, I can't see what's wrong, if anything. I mounted my aileron servo in the upright position so I didn't run into this situation. I do see a possible problem in the last photo, though. Is everything centered in that photo? If so, and it looks like it is, I notice that the triple collective bellcrank is not at exactly 90 degrees. I don't know if that will cure your problem or has anything to do with it but it looks to be a little off. Also, am I correct in assuming that you have not yet adjusted your clutch clearance inside the bell? I only mention this because I can see your delrin bushings below the clutch bell and noticed the large gap between the bottom of the bell and the fan housing.

Bobs, if I can recall, I haven't adjusted my clutch clearance inside the bell. Can this be adjusted now or do I need to disassemble some things first?
mister2u,
Is your aileron servo mount installed with the recessed side up, and the servo mounted in the recess? I originally mounted mine incorrectly and the links were rubbing similar to yours. I installed everything correctly and the clearance issue was resolved.
I think you can adjust your clutch clearance by just loosening your motor mount bolts and moving the motor up. If I remember the instructions correctly it goes all the way up and then down 1mm. Check your manual.
Hope that helps. I'm a Bergen newbie so just going by the mistakes I made with the aileron setup.
Cheers, Shayne

Thanks Shayne. I'll take a look at these when I get home this evening. miami6, did you get that?
Byron
Actually guys, I was just looking at my gallery (I'm at work too) and it looks like I may have installed the servo on the outside of the servo mount to get the clearance I needed. I do remember I had the same issue as you guys though and did resolve it by playing around with the mounting technique for the servo. Doesn't mean I followed what the manual said though.
Have a look at my gallery and see if that helps any.
Shayne
Byron, it's just a matter of loosening the motor mount bolts and adjusting it up or down or however it needs to be moved. That can be adjusted almost any time. Nothing needs to be disassembled. I didn't mean to worry you but I noticed the gap and thought I better mention it. I've got a feeling Shayne spotted your other problem, too. Let us know.

Shayne, your gallery helps out tremendously! A picture is worth a 1000 words. (not sure who coined that, but they were right on point)

Thanks Bobs for bringing that gap issue to my attention. Just a few minor adjustments and I should be on my way. I will keep everyone posted.

I've repositioned the servo and that issue has been resolved. On to the clutch now.

Question...How difficult should it be for me to move the engine up? It seems to be pretty snug as is.

Thanks! I've got the main blades installed and am giving it the once over. Still familiarizing myself with the 9CHPS, however.
Byron
Take your time. It will pay off in the long run. Have fun.

Ok guys, I've been trying to familiarize myself with the 9CHPS. I have a question, however. I've been trying to figure this out on my own, but have not been very successful. Can someone explain the pitch curve to me? I'm a way confused on the settings that I have come across in my readings! Here are some that I have come across from Herc's thread (0 - 100 +9/-9 and -2 / +11). What tha heck does all this mean? :dontknow

One more thing. The manual doesn't do a good job at explaining the pitch curve (in referrence to - / + points). Then again, it may be and I'm just not understanding it. :D
The 0 - 100 are the percentages and the +9/-9 are the pitch angles in degrees. Do you have a pitch guage?
The 0 - 100 represented a linear line that went from -9 to +9 degrees. I strive to get 0 degrees at 50% and hovering pitch 5 - 6 degrees at 75% - depending on headspeed.
My current pitch settings (from memory)
1 = -2 degrees
2 = -1 degrees
3 50% = 0 degrees
4 = 6 degrees
5 = 9 degrees
Or thereabouts. This is with a 9CHP. I'm still tweaking though and that's pretty rough but will give you an idea I think.
The percentage at each position (1 through 5) will vary depending on setup.
This will either help a little or make you more confused. :D

Hi Herc! I've got a pitch guage, but am still a bit confused. So, you're saying that the actual degrees are representations of the percentages at points 1 - 5?
