Hi Jermo would you know what settings in the DX7 for the gain gyro for the 611
gyro 'Im setting up my 600 and not sure what the gain % to set it at . Is the same as the trex 450 on the 401gyro 72% ? Please let me know
Thank's Mark
Hit the guys in the 600 forum and see what the typical gain setting is for that heli/gyro combinatoin. If there's a remote gain setting that you can control from the TX just know that 1 point of gain at the TX is = 1.44 at the gyro depending on settings. Some Gyro's have settings that change this ratio.

If I set up my 401 using the "Gyro Sense" menu I don't need to rebind, right? Or if I adjust my gain after a flight, I don't need to rebind?
I read you had to rebind when setting up using ATV's.
Thanks.

you don't have to re-bind just switching to the gyro sense menu. I generally do just because but it's not required. I'd be interested in knowing where you read rebinding was required after using ATV.
With regards to the rudder the only time I can think of you would want to rebind is if you used trim on the rudder channel for some reason (or subtrim to get that last bit of movement to mechanically center the servo during setup).

Thanks Jermo. I think I read it wrong. You only have to rebind on initial setup of the gyro.

:) no worries, I often have to re-read things to fully understand. It's one reason I sometimes appear contentious. I'm wanting to make sure I understand.

I'm sorry but can you guy's help me. I have a 401 in my Mini Titan with a JR3400G. I'm using the gear switch fro my HH/Rate switch. On the ATV menu for the gear channel it shows +100
-100
Where is a good place to start for HH ?
Seems to work well at +33
Where is a good place to start at Rate?
Seems to work well at -23
These may be way off so thats why I'm here.
I know both ATV's go to +150/-150.
Do I want to make the servo arm as short as possible for best resolution? I have it 2mm inside the inner hole, so its as short as it can get.
Last, I have my rudder ATV at 100L/R, been using Dual Rate(80% now) to control Piro rate but sometimes I get wicked fast piro's with a small change in DR%. Does this affect the gain% also?
My 401 seems to work great but I would like to know some starting points. I have a bounce, sometimes large sometimes small after right rudder piros bepending on my gain/DR set up..
My delay is at zero, DS on. Sub trim at zero,Tx trim zero. Zero binding, limit set to just about max with the short arm. Thanks for the help, the vids are great. Todd

I'm not familiar with the mini titan but it looks very simular to the T-Rex 450.
You didn't state if you had a DX7 TX or not but you posted on the DX7 thread.
Servo Arm: you want to adjust so that the limit ends up between 80 and 90 (limit is an adjustment on the gyro.
Rudder ATV: with the GY401 this only affects piro rate.
Bounce: Sounds like "hunting" to me. Piro rates will affect that some but I'd increase the Gear ATV to 72 if you are using a DX7 (32 for Futaba, refer to The Finless Series "101 on the GY401"),
Everything else sounds close. I'm not sure on DS being on for the JR3400G. Just know that Futaba doesnt' suggest DS on for non futaba servo's. It may work but there is a chance to damage the servo. You might post in the T-Rex450 section to ask if anyone has first hand experience with this servo on the GY401 and what their DS is set to. I think Alan Zsabo runs the JR3400G but I have no idea how his DS is set.
Thanks goes to Finless (Bob White), he's really the genius behind the curtain ;)

Is this version 3 for the trex 450 v2 also?

It should work fine. The only differences I can think of between the 1.5 and 2 are the head, motor and the ESC power.

I did all the settings according to the vidieo .Now the gear switch doesn't shut the gyro light off.The light on the gyro is on all the time. Also in gyro sens in the menu,i have my rate #0:@64% and#1:@64% that is where my tail doesn' bounce back an fourth. My question is.How or what do i set so my gear switch turns the light on my gyro off? Thanks all you Goo Roos....

You don't use the Gear switch with this setup. If you want to use normal rate mode just set 1: to a setting below 50. Try 28. Then assign 1: to one of the flight modes, Normal, Stunt, or throttle hold.

I just finished banging my head against the wall. :arggg: I'm having a problem with the 401 and 9650 Servo. Well at least I think it's a problem. I'm using a DX7 and have the gyro gain attached to the Aux2 channel. After 3 hours of cussing, crying and pulling what little hair I have left out of my head, I finally got the gyro working correctly. But one problem. My HH Gain is set for 60 and my NR set for 40. The problem is in HH mode with a gain higher than 60. The servo will not center and acts as if it's binding. I know it's not binding because I have properly adjusted the Travel Limit on the Gyro. Anyone else have this problem. Maybe a setting of 60 will be enough for my Trex 450, but after viewing the DX7 video, I'm not quite sure. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Thanks again for the vids Finless and Jermo. :noteworthy

The numbers in the video are starting points. You will ultimately need to adjust the gain for best results with your heli. I have one T-Rex450 that runs lower gain that the other. In HH mode the tail won't center. This is normal. Move the rudder quickly 3 times left/right. This will tell the gyro to recall it's center position.
Ultimately you'll tweak the settings to give you the best performance for your specific setup (especially when you start doing FRF). Don't worry about it until you get there :)

Thanks Jermo.
I did notice that moving the rudder the 3 times left and right seemed to bring the servo back to center. I just can't imagine having to to that in flight. I'm sure it will all sort it out during my test flights. I guess I shouldn't sweat the small stuff. If a HH Gain of 60 works, so be it.
Thanks again.

no need to do that in flight. If you set your gyro up using Finless GY401 Video and my DX7 video the only thing different will be your gain setting. You shouldnt'have any isuess unless there's binding in the linkages..etc..

Hey Jermo - Align and us T-Rex wannabe's/newbies owe you and Finless BIG TIME! Truly grateful for your hard work. My 600 build so far has been an awesome, enjoyable experience, thanks to both of you.
I had a couple of suggestions for complete newbies suffering from "Murphy's" syndrome, like myself. When going through the pitch curve setup on the DX7, it would be helpful to show how the increase/adjust button on the TX works in conjunction with the set points, pitch measurements, and the joystick controls. To me, the manual was not particularly clear about this. Also, it would have been helpful to mention that the GY401 polarity tabs have to be trimmed off in order to insert them into the AR7000. Showing the orientation of the connectors in the receiver would also be helpful.
I assume that the yellow wire of the gain channel connects to the top pin, and the green wire of the rudder channel goes to the top. Apologies if I missed this on another post or in a subsequent version of the videos (I downloaded DX7 v3).
Thanks again.

Excellent suggestion. I will definately cover that in revision 4 still in work. With all the good weather I've been flying/repairing more than flying  . hehe..

I'm eagerly anticipating v4! Hope your "repairs" are minimal.
Also, a close-up or two of how you mounted your receiver/antennae, on/off switch, and safety plug would be really kewl.

I am new to the site. Been flying my Falcon 3D with the stock radio. Going to be setting up my new DX7 on a 2nd Falcon 3D and your video was very helpful in understanding the radio. Thank you.
