You're welcome. I'm struggling to find time for the next revision that will have more on Expo, DualRates and setup for a Nitro Gov.

Well, I made the first flight on my trex 600 this morning and was very pleased with how things went. I used bob's videos for construction and jermos video for my dx7 setup. I am a newbie so please allow me to ask what is probably a very basic question. I have the trex mounted on a rotopod so it yaws very easily. Whenever I lift off, the helicopter turns left about 5-10 degrees. The dx7 gain is set at 72% per the videos and I'm using a futaba 611. I tried running the gain to 80% but that did not seem to make a difference. Do I make adjustments on the radio or the gyro and which way do I go? Thanks.

Mark

2 things.
1. On a rotopod the chopper will likely yaw before the tail rotors have enough RPM to control the tail.
2. 72% is a starting point on the T-Rex450. We've discovered with the newer gear sets the gain is much lower (40 something).
3. Hit the T-Rex 600 forum for setup on the 611. I'm guessing your gain is too high.

That was a bit confusing for me. Not a video for beginners.

Thank you!!! You're video was great. It really brought things together for me after watching it in conjunction with finless's videos. I noticed in one of the messages you mentioned a 4th version. Is that available?

I've recently gotten a new contract so I've not found time for revision 4. I am, however, working on the outline for it this week and want to get the DX6 R1 video and Dx7 R4 done. No promises but I'm actively working on it this week.

I hope someone does a video on the DX6 setup! That sucker is NOT easy to get around! Something to think about, Bob? Jermo? :) *hint hint*

Hi,

I am also intrested in the DX6 video.

Remember to include recommended pitch and throttle settings, for normal and "stunt" mode.

John

The pitch and throttle curves will be identical to The Finless Series T-Rex 450SE CCPM2 video but will be 3 point instead of 5.

Looks like the video server or a key process has fallen over ?

As a newbie with little idea about my new DX7 I'm pretty keen to see the video - I need all the help I an get :)

cheers,

Perhaps, for the sake of newbies, it would be good to remind them to disconnect the motor during setup.

I say this because you suggest putting a pitch gauge on the heli which means turning on the machine.

But I just discovered there were 12 more pages of the thread I didn't know about so excuse me if this reply is redundant.

I wish I knew how to make good videos like yours.

Hay boss!
I've been reading and watching everything I can find reguading DX6 and 7, easy to find 7 info but there seems to be some neuance to the DX6 that's causing me problems. I started with a Dragonfly 37 and moved to a 3DX-450 It's a cute little helicopter and I'm crazy to get it hovering. I've been having problems with rotations (periotes). And just as I was starting to make some head way I through a main blade and it looked excatly like it just blew up. My daughter put it on youtube as "My dads helicopter explodes for no reason". In a frame by frame you can see that one of the blades takes off before all hell breaks loose. Well 80.00 bucks later I've about got it back together and should be back to attempts at hovering again soon. I've been watching and waiting for your production on the DX6 and I've been wondering if you've been having as many problems as I've been having. Waiting with antisapation, keep your nose into the wind.

Excellent video. I'm not quite to the point of setting up my new dx7. My question is are there other videos on the dx7 (by finless), or are the other settings pretty much universal. Jermo mentions watching other videos for other settings not discussed in this video. Other than that I'll be sure to follow this video for basic setup. Thanks for the video.

I believe in the series of the hurricane 550 video, Finless was setup using his dx7. It has some reference point in there that you can use to relay/clarify information if need to.

Excellent advice that i should have heeded. I'd been setting up "Sexy Trexy" all day using the great videos on this site, and being really careful.

Unfortunately, when i got to pitch adjustment, I didn't unhook the motor, and had the Tx on throttle hold. Decided to do a head adjustment, and turned the Tx off before unhooking the heli.

Four days later, I still have the cuts and bruises from the carbons hitting my left arm, lucky i was wearing a jacket.

Not only that, I wrecked the main gear, a blade, and cracked the tail servo. At least it gave me an excuse to get a 401Y and S9257.

Anyway, great video!!!! Thanks heaps!!.

Between this vid, and Bob's other videos, Sexy Trexy will be ready for her maiden flight as soon as the new main gear arrives!!.

Thanks again Jermo and Bob. :)

well i got most of the bird together but i'm really having a hard time figuring out how to set up the dx7 with the GY401. I whatched both videos but it seems they skip allot of steps and the DX7 video just shows the radio set up. Finless videos talk about going back to standard mode to set up the gyro but i have no ideal how to do that on the DX7.

I don't ever think i'll get this thing flying and i feel like i've wasted so much money on this thing.

i'm so frustated I'd even be willing to pay someone to do a video of the dx7 setup with the GY401 connected to the bird so it's alittle more clear how this all works.

Try this deep, hope this helps.

This setup is for the raptor. But it does show how to setup the GY401 with the DX7. I'm currently building my 450se. i have'nt got as far as installing the gyro, so I'm not sure if this will help.
