I can honnestly say that i have never been so excited to get a heli....although it's a used magnum, i just can't wait!!!!
What would the normal recommended "upgrades" be and is there any thing i need to watch for when i go over this heli for the first time?
Please keep in mind that this is from a very well known, respected builder/flier...so i assume it will be in tiptop shap
Thanks, Dean

Not alot of upgrades needed for a Bergen machine. Is the tail driven? How old is it? Push-pull on the tail?
Really, they're pretty awesome right out of the box :D

Dean...if you have a "Magnum" then you have the latest and greatest of everything already. Nothing more needed or really available. The push-pull on the tail isn't needed (or really desired) on the Magnum. The push pull was really designed back in the day of the 9253 gyro servo...the push-pull tail servo mount just gave a little bit more mechanical advantage for that very weak gyro servo...

Thanks guy's, if figured there wouldn't be much judging from the pics i have of the heli and the "upgrades" available on the Bergen site.
Is there anything that is a "high wear item" that i should be checking??
Thanks, Dean

Well, maybe not quite known yet as a "normal recommended upgrade" but I personally think its one of the best upgrades you can ever install on a heli -- a jewel on-board generator to run your electronics. Chris makes the mounts for them and I stock them as well, so should you decide to make field battery worries a thing of the past, a generator is in store for you! :D

Raja, is there some sort of gear reduction as this is a nitro version, and i don't think you want that generator spinning that fast???

The generator mounts to the start shaft, which is also usually how the Nitro versions are started, so as someone else pointed out to me  , that's kind of hard to do......

O/K...i see in the gallery....humm, i guess one could make a gear/starter coupling and move the generator over to make it gear reduced....
I'm only a automotive professor/technician, would need an engineer to figure out the proper gear ratio to running loads etc... do-able....
What do you think Chris...would it be cost effective, verse an external charger [would also have to factor in run time verses charge time]

Oh...didn't realize it was a nitro. Sorry my boo boo I thought it was a gasser somehow don't ask me how (guess it was late)!
Some people have made mounts to run the generator off the main gear. It certainly can be done no problem. Another guy make a starter pulley so he can still use the hex start on it and drive the generator with a belt off the pulley. The ideas are out there, just need to want to do it and if its worth the effort for you.
Now I'm super tired so I better go get some rest. Took the day off to go skiing today and it was 18 degrees high at the base and 10 degrees at the summit and that was the high of the day. My first trip to the summit the temp was 7F. Go figure, the coldest weather I've ever skied in. Not to mention the windy, gusted to 41mph. The slopes were great, the wind on the chair lift was miserable! :?

OK, I'm fairly new at this, so what defines a Magnum from an Intrepid 90? The CD of instructions that came with my kit are for the Intrepid 60 and it seems that most items are pretty much the same, with minor detail changes. No mention of a Magnum anywhere though, but I've heard the term batted around and wondering what the difference includes. PS I bought my kit second hand unassembled and not directly from Bergen RC but Chris seems more than willing to answer any questions I've had, thanks Chris! Awesome customer service.:dontknow
