I was told that the JR digital servo's such as DS285 or the DR3400 don't talk that well with a GY401,,, I have this setup, they work fine for me at the stage that I'm at. Hovering and mild foward flight, I just don't want to have any miscommunication in the air.Thanks

Either of those servos will work with the 401. However you need to set the gyro to normal not digital. In digital mode the gyro is expecting a super fast not just accurate servo.

A 3400 IS a super fast and accurate servo. IN fac, right now probably the best tail servo for a Trex 450.

Actually the gyro has no idea what servo is at the other end of the cable, they don't talk to each other.

In DS mode the gyro just sends out signals at a much faster rate, which most digital servos can handle, but analog servos can't.

I`m using the DS285/3400G combo with a GY401 set to digital servo mode.
Not a problem at all.
