I did a search, but was unable to find anything in the realm of how to level your swash with the align swash tool... Anyone know if there is one?

thanks

I believe it's in one of the Head setup vids LINKED HERE (http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.php?t=12455)

If not, it will be in one of Finless' videos, just browse through all of his links (yeah, there's a ton. He's been VERY very busy)

Pull the head off and put the tool on the shaft with the spread-out part near the swash. Look at the side view to see if the gap between the tool and swash is even in the fore/aft direction. Look at it from the front and see if the gap is even in the left/right direction. Put the tool very near the swash so you can easily see a difference in gap. Get rid of trims and get the servo arm 90 degrees to the rods and adjust rod length to get the gaps even.

If you didn't have the tool, put the blade on the left side of the heli and measure the pitch. Then swing the same blade around to the right side and measure the pitch. Adjust the elevator rod length to get the pitch the same. Then measure the pitch with the blade forward, and then swing the same blade around to the rear and measure the pitch and adjust the aileron rod lengths to get the pitch the same. Whichever side has the greater pitch, the part of the swash that's 90 degrees ahead of it is the high side of the swash. So, if the pitch is greater on the left side than on the right side, 90 degrees ahead (in the direction of rotation) of the left side (the greater pitch) puts you at the nose (with a CW rotation), so the front of the swash is too high.

In the end, with the pitch guage staying on the same blade, the pitch should be the same all around the circle. That indicates a level swash. It's easier quicker and more accurate to use the tool but you can get pretty close just with the pitch guage.
