I went to the last hobby and expo show last sept in Chicago and saw how the ep R/C heli hobby has exploded in the last few years and decided now was the time to get into the hobby. I have been interested in R/C planes and helis for along time but the cost involved has kept me from getting involved. Years ago I bought a tamiya blackfoot monster truck when they first came out,ran it for awhile and decided that R/C cars weren't for me. at the time EP, arf, micro, parkflyer planes really were non existant and the few helis were to expensive. Fast forward some 20 years, now I have enough extra money to buy things that I have no idea what to do with, so I bought a heli.I didn't want to spend alot on my first heli because I didn't know if I could fly one and didn't want to put alot into it it until I knew that I could learn to fly one. I was going to go with a coaxial heli until The lhs let me fly one in the store, I decided that it was to easy to fly and I would be bored after 1 or 2 weeks and 190.00 out of my pocket and needing another heli, then I was going to go with a FP honey bee or similar, started checking online forums and decided that even though cheaper, I kept seeing other peoples advise to start with quality separate components, it would be cheaper in the long run. I also didn't want to deal with 4 in ones, tail motors burning out, can't fly outside if over 10mph winds (I live in the windy city) so I thought I would buy the best rtf heli I could find which in my reserch seemed to be the Hobby-lobby facon 3d.........until I found this dragonus package for just a little more $. Not the top of the line in the dragonus family, not the best radio or electronics available, but most definately a huge leap from the rtf no name radio equipment helis out there. I think that this package will grow with me for quite some time. I probably will not be using the included telbe gyro or towerpro servos. I am going to go with a 401 gyro and hs65 servos, some say a futaba servo to go with the 401 but I would like others advise on other servo and gyro options. in the latest R/C Heli mag they did a review for the dragonus pro with a 401 and airtronics servo. I was wondering what others say about the airtronics servo and possibly the JR mini servo set #JRPF300H that includes the 3400g and 3 ds285 servos?
I have been watching all of the finless videos on this site and have learned alot, but I will be asking alot of stupid questions......especially when it comes time to program my radio,so please be patient. and hey bob, if you don't finnish your dragonus videos...you may be getting another one in the mail so you can build one free from all of the manufacturer/distributor problems

Anyway, thanks for letting me introduce myself and reading through all of this crap

Welcome to the Freak. I dont know anything about the dragon series of helis but everyone has to start somewhere. I started out with a lite machines and went up from there to several different helis. you will find that most people here at the freak fly the align trex electrics but dont let that discourage you. I imagine there is plenty of pilots here that know alot about your particular machine and will give you a wealth of info. Anyway welcome and congrats on your purchase. BY THE WAY get another job divorce your wife and kids and get ready for one of the best hobbies in the known universe.

WELCOME TO HELIFREAKS!!

The only stupid question you can ask occurs after a crash. "Why didn't I just ask the folks on HF before I tried this on my own?"

We're all learning regardless of how long we've been at this. Together we have more fun and have less pain. When bad things happen it's not so bad because we all share in it.
