Heliroller, only the rear bearing feels slightly rough. But the front seems fine. But i will change both.
David, Yap
Anyway guys, i bought new bearings, 2 front and 2 rear =)
Just finish fixing everything plus the new MP5 i got it last week.
I cant wait to try it tomorrow to see whether is there still leaking and how the pipe perform xD

I am happy with the new bearings. Althought there is still some leaking, it was not as bad as before. Before that, from the engine fan all the way down to the base plate is soak in oil. Now only the base plate is slightly oily which i think it might be cause by the regulator ?
Also the MP5 was very impressive  Seems like i am getting more power compare to the SB18. But the 3rd flight my engine die when taking off which i was force to land it inverted. So my blades and the new MP5 was scratch but no damage =(
Not sure is it because the engine was cold and i suddenly punch it up cause the engine to die.

Not sure is it because the engine was cold and i suddenly punch it up cause the engine to die. Sorry about the rough landing.. Are you sure it's not a tad too rich? You should be able to polish out the scratches with a good aluminum polish if they aren't too deep. At this point I would believe that some of that fuel is coming from the MP5 especially if you do a lot of backward flight! Temporarily attach a flat piece of plastic or something to shield the motor area from the pipe and see if the fuel appears to be less after a couple of flights. Mine accumulates oil on the base plate even using the SB18 especially in backwards flight.

Ok, i am very bad at engine tunning. I don't know why when i load the head non-stop like doing tictoc , i wont be able to see smoke coming out of the pipe. I dont think it's normal right ?
But when i am doing rolls, loops and all those lighter stuff. The smoke seems more constant.
I think the scratch is abit too deep to be polish off, as you can feel it is rough.
Now a days i do more backwards flight and prio ( tail spin clockwise ) So maybe you are right, some of the oil from the muffler might accumulate on the base plate.

Once that is pulling good during hard load, then tune the high speed needle such as in large loops, etc.

Ic ok next week i will try it again. Btw i notice some people out there are running the mid full close right, do they get the same problem ? Do you run mid full close too ?
I am now running half a turn out on mid

Ic also, hmm you told me to richen my mid so that when i am loading the engine there will be more smoke.
But i notice when i am hovering, there is quite alot of smoke already. So richen the mid will make it even more rich when i am hovering right, then what should i do or just richen it and see how it goes first ?

Great, i did it again . . .
Got a video of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCuOoJQGxmk . My flying is not very precise yet . . .
But can anyone tell me how well did my engine perform from the video, before the crash ?
Btw the crash was beacuse my servo horn came out . . .
Also can you guys tell me what should i check because it is my first hardest crash on the Stratus :arggg:

Looked good to me. But it really is hard to tell from just a video.
Too bad about the crash.
What to check after any crash......EVERYTHING.

Actually the engine sounded fairly happy, the collective was pretty hard at times. Looked good though! What pitch are you running? I'd check everything out. Especially the other srevos and frames, etc for cracks. Especially the metal A-frames. Sorry about the crash. Seems to always happen that way. get it going pretty good and whallup! All over again. Been there done that! I think we all have!

yar, i am dam bad at tunning engine :arggg: So should i richen it or what should i do ?
I am currently running around +-14 pitch with 8 degree cyclic. But i tried not go to +-14 all the way maybe for a short burst only.
All right, i will check everything to make sure nothing is bend or crack :)

Engine sounds close from what I can tell on the vid. When you get it back in one piece, Do some hard climb outs and see how it pulls and watch the smoke. I'd start there. Smoke should stay and engine should not make much noise. Should sound solid.

what do you mean by 'much noise' how does it sound like ?

what do you mean by 'much noise' how does it sound like ? Make sure it is not pre-detonating. Clanking or rattling sounds. Could mean too lean or shims needed in the head. Also depends on what fuel you are running.

As you try to needle the top end, I would suggest you temporarily depitch the top end collective to the point the engine is just BARELY loaded at full throttle for more than brief periods. You need to get to full throttle and pitch and stay there for a while. It is critical in an OS to get the top end set correctly, or the midrange and everything else will be a battle. You really can't assess the top end mixture unless the engine can stay there for a while and settle down. You can make any engine appear too lean with excessive pitch and associated increase in running temps, especially if the high speed mixture is on the lean side to begin with.

I would run a little les pitch, that'll make the engine happier.
