Are fly-bar weights necessary?

They are nice when you are starting out to make the heli just a bit less responsive and alot more stable. So the defination of "necessary" depends on where you are in your skills. I've been hovering since december (off and on) and wouldn't consider flying without the weights.

sorry for going off topic, but has anyone tried a trex flybar on teh blade cpp? i really want faster cyclic but also more stability.

I tried two sets of weights (one stock, one additional) all the way out. DRAMATICALLY slowed response. Had to anticipate every adjustment. Moved the "extra" weights toward center about 1". Still helped with stability, but improved response time a lot.

I use MScomposit Hornet X3D flybar and paddles with BCP weights at halfway out, excellent control and stability (<--- chopperdude) :noteworthy , I have tried Trex bar and paddles only the paddles are to thick of an airfoil increased current draw and reduced agility, stock BCP set with out weights is active but is not as stable when wind gusts. I started with the weights on and flew a few packs then moved them inboard 30% for the next few. You have to fly your machine a bit and adjust to your feel. I recommend weights. :glasses2:
