I am watching Bob's video on how to set up the gyro... OK no problem there right...
He using a Futaba (I wish mine was here) but I am currently setting up with an Hitec Optic 6. I turned everything on to start the setup, but I got the slow blinky light like Bob did in his video. I do as he directed and reversed channel 5...
Still blinking... how come? I did some searching, but unable to get a good answer to my question, so I thought I would ask.
I can only adjust the Gyro settings in the radio from 0-%100...
I am also running an Electron 6 Rx and an Airtronis 94761 Digi tail servo...
Thanks for the help

Well I read a little more of the manual and apparently SW2 (ch-5) is the GYRO switch, HH or STD. According to Bob's video I have to reverse this channel for it to work properly.

Most likely because the ATV on channel 5 is adjusted 100% both directions.
Put the ATV on channel 5 on 0 on one side of the operation and 100% on the other side. If this works and makes the light remain solid when the switch is one direction. Then adjust the 100% side to about 80% and the other side that is 0 to about 20% and you should be set to go.
I would think flipping the switch back and forth that controls Channel 5 where the gyro gain is plugged in should switch it into AVCS mode and make the light solid.
Hitec should work the same as Futaba does.
Unless the ATV precentages will go negative value in the Hitec.

I am really stumped on this one... I flip the SW2 switch to the up position and set the GYRO to 0. I then flip the switch in the other direction and the GYRO menu still reads 0. Hmmm... According to the diagram in the manual this switch is wired for the gyro. Confusing... :dontknow
Help is always appreciated...

From page 51 of the Optic 6 manual
GYRO - Gyro settings
Gyro settings are used to automatically control the gyro's gain
in different flight modes. It may be set to different values in
NOR, ST1, ST2, and ST3 flight modes, allowing you to pick the
gain you need for each circumstance. The Gyro settings
Control the output at receiver CH5. You cannot independently
control this channel with a switch or slider.
Using Gyro Settings
1. Press one of the Up Down Edit buttons repeatedly to get to
the GYRO menu. To begin with, the function is inhibited.
Press one of the Cursor keys to activate it. Once activated,
it's set to 50% in all four flight modes.
2. To set the mixing amount for the normal (NOR) flight mode,
flip the Flt. Mode (SW-4) switch all the way forward. NOR
will be flashing on and off. Set the percentage to yield the
desired gyro gain (this is usually a high-gain setting). If for
some reason you want a 0% setting, press the Active/
Inhibit (Clear) key.
3. Flip the Flt. Mode (SW-4) switch to its center position. ST1
will be flashing on and off. Set the percentage to yield the
desired gyro gain in this flight mode (this will usually be a
lower-gain setting for reduced damping in stunts).
4. Flip the Flt. Mode (SW-4) switch all the way aft. ST2 will be
Flashing on and off. Set the percentage to yield the desired
gyro gain.
5. Now flip the SW-1 switch fully down. You may now input a
setting for ST3.
6. Make some test flights to try these settings out. Take note
of when more gain is need, and when less gain is needed.
You can adjust all of the gyro settings in each flight mode to
suit your machine.

Sounds simple enough.

Ya I read that part too... several times even to make sure I didn't miss anything. Nothing about SW2. The positions on SW4 are the flight modes. The position on SW3 is an Aileron Dual Rate switch, of course I have no clue what that is, and SW1 is the throttle hold switch...

I was reading on RR about the same thing... I have tried everything these guys were saying, but I can't get that light to stop blinking. They eventually lost me when they were talking about moving from this switch to the next switch and percentages and so on.
Apparently the OPTIC6 radio uses percentages... 1-49 is normal and 51 - 100 is HH with AVCS and 50 is off. Then some were using chn-5 reversed and some were not... I am clueless on this one.
Perhaps I am over thinking it, but I can't get the light to stop blinking no matter the setting or the switch placement. There was supposedly a video on HeliHobby, but nothing there. :arggg:

Anybody got any in site :dontknow
My 9C will hopefully be here soon, but I will probably hold onto the Optic6 'just in case'
I'm running out of resources :arggg:

figured it out... my stupidity... I am using a receiver pack to setup my helicopter (like Bob said to) and that was the problem. I removed the sensitivity wire to use it for power... I was supposed to remove the ESC wire instead. Ooops my bad...
