Just wandering if anyone has put together a list of parts needed instead of buying a new CP Pro and then upgrading everything.

I'd like to build one using the following:
- direct drive tail
- brushless motors / speed controller
- HH gyro
- using my existing DX7 / reciever
- upgraded lipos

So really, I guess the only thing I need from the kit is the mechanical hardware from the kit (which I'm sure can be purchased seperately - but not sure if that is economical). If that can be done for less than $200 - then it would make sense. If not - I should just fork out the $250 and throw all the other stuff away.

If not, no worries - I just didn't want to pull the whole list of parts together if someone already has it. Thanks
Greg

I think your gonna be close if not over the $200 .. I am from Canada and I priced all that out it came to almost 300 in Canadian funds. Same price as the cp pro.. If I would have been patient and saved I am regretting not going for the t-rex 450se .I have a pro only upgrades so far is the hdx cnc head on it. But i am going BL and DD tail that's another $170 for me. hope this helps..

I should have mentioned that I do have a Trex450SE, so saving the money to spend on that is already over..... Just looking for a smaller heli to fly in the basement and garage at night.

As for the CP Pro - I'm just not a big fan of buying a kit just to throw away 1/3 of it and replace a bunch of stuff with the right componenets. If I can just buy the right components to begin with and the bare minimum from the original kit - I'm happy. But then again, sometimes it just makes economic sense to throw the stuff away. Thanks for the help

Save your money and buy a CX2 for inside the house. The CPP is way too unstable for inside flight other than just hovering.

You can purchase the ARF kit instead of the RTF CP. Its not a Pro, but with all new electrics it should be better.

The CP inside is plenty of fun.. Trying to land on the piano bench, the entryway table.. the occasional sleeping cat.. :)

I just saw at GrandRC the CDX300 with all the bling and a BL moter and they only wanted $250 or so it has a belt drive to the tail I think it will be my inside heli here soon. Looked very nice (and very small). I bet it will be a handfull to fly (just how I like it)

One of these friggin' cats could sleep through an explosion.. I've thunked my PicooZ down on the thing a few times while it's sacked out on the couch.. Raises its head, looks at me and then goes back to sleep...

I haven't tried landing on the cat with the CP, but I've hovered a couple feet above it and it doesn't move.. I've hovered over a couple cows in an R22 and they don't move either.. Perhaps cats and cows are related (or maybe they're both just stupid. ehhehe)

I think they just don't care. but the cat is prob. just lazy. you have spoiled your cat and it has way to much time on it's hands(paws). try not feeding it for a few days I bet the cat will not sleep when you land on it again (in the cats mind your heli is now LUNCH)

Not my cat(s). They belong to my daughters.. (Son has a 2' long water dragon) Lazy buggers the both of 'em. Eat, sleep and s**t is a normal day for them...

Maybe I'll try it with the 600 next time. :)

Yeah, this one goes friggin' bananas when you come home with a couple of pinkies. I guess he can smell 'em - his tail starts thrashing and he'll hiss a bit too.. Finicky little beast tho.. He'll go weeks without wanting anything but mealies and then he won't eat anything but crickets for a month... Mix 'em up and he'll let the crickets breed in his enclosure or let the mealies turn into beetles..

He gets REALLY cranky when he's about to shed too.. Likes to bite when he's feeling ornery..

mine took a chunk out of my finger once. hurt like the dickens. Little baster would sleep like he was dead and when I ut my hand in to see if he was alright WAM he would bit me. Made for a funny trick to play on my buddies. They would say " does he bit?" I would tell them "only when he's hunger." my buddy "have you fed mine yet?" Me " Yep about 4 hours ago." Buddy "Can you hold his?" Me " If I want to." Buddy "Can I hold him?" Me "If you want to go for it." then they would stick there hand in the cage and WAM he would bit then.LOL Buddy " I thought you said you fed him?" Me "I did" Buddy "why did he bit me?" Me "you didn't ask if he bites you ask if I could hold him and I said IF I WANT TO. but he bites so I never want to hold him and when I do I hold him with the gloves you see on the table with the bite marks on them. And you ask if you could hold him and I said IF YOU WANT GO FOR IT. I didn't think you where stupid the gloves are in plan sight." Buddy " Man that hurts what do you feed him?" Me " well I use to feed him crickets and meal worms and some times lettuce but when he stoped eating I ask the pet store why and they told me that when the grow into adult hood they need meat.(pinks at frist) so now I feed him mice." Buddy " Mine?(in a suprised sound)" Me "yep mice. You want to see him eat?" Buddy " you said he already had eaten." Me "No I said I fed him never said he eat. So you want to see him eat?" Buddy " YA.(there getting into it at this point and the bite has stoped bleeding)" so I would pop a mouse in the cage and he would hit it and strip the skin from the tail right over the head in one bite. My buddy at this point is in shock as he just realized what he just did. BTW once the get the sail fin on the head and back they don't like to be held anymore. Or at lest mine didn't. best safe I ever had I use to keep all my valueable in a hidden faults floor in his cage. no one not even my wife would go in there. Man I miss his my ex-wife got him and gave him to her boy toy and when it bit him he killed it. Best two nights of my life was kicking his a$$ and spending the night in the pokey.

Sorry gmschmidt
I didn't mean to jack your thread I was in GrandRC the other day and they have the CDX300 with and the bling and CF frame with the belt drive and a BL moter for $250 there is a good start for what you where askng for

I'd like to build one using the following:
- direct drive tail
- brushless motors / speed controller
- HH gyro
- using my existing DX7 / reciever
- upgraded lipos

and you wouldn't have to throw any think away just add your TX/RX,ESC,Giro,servos, and Lipo and you are in with belt drive no motor on the tail. If you have the TX/RX then you sould be able to put this in the air for under $500 and it's the all alum head and tail.
