My my clutch was catching a very low rpm, as well a while turning over the the engine during start. The first thing I did was:

1. Replaced clutch bell. - This seemed to work, the engine started with no "catching" , however I made the mistake of "squeezing" the cluch with my fingers. This gave me a "false" fix.

2. I flew and landed, and the engine stalled. During restart found that the problem had come back.

After removing the engine again, and a very close inspection I found a crack in the clutch.

I am just looking for potentional causes and any additional parts that should be replaced along with the clutch. Yes, I did crash in late november due to an aileron server failure (my first, I think the blades were still under some load when they struck the ground). The clutch, clutch bell, and fan assembly were some of the parts that appeared to be OK and were not replaced. The bird flew fine after the re-build, until recently

Thanks!

If the engine was running at speed when you crashed, you may have burned up the clutch lining.
When the Clutch lining gets worn it allows the clutch shoes to move out to far and actually bend the metal. Once this happens you must replace the clutch and the clutch liner. You generally do not have to replace the whole clutch bell, You can buy the liners separate and glue the new ones into the old bell after cleaning out all of the old liner.
Ideally you want .006 on each side (.012 difference in diameter) clearance between the clutch and the liner.

Yep, new clutch and liner.

Glue the liner in with jb weld or 30 min epoxy, while the glue is drying take a new clutch with 2 wraps of electrical tape, butted end to end not overlapping around it and push it into the bell, when the glue dries remove the clutch, take off the tape and clean up any adhesive with alcohol and voila perfect clutch gap.

Thank you for your all your feed back. Parts are ordered, hopefully I'll be flying this coming weekend (unless it is snowing)
