Is it possible to have a brushless tail motor on a CPP ? I want to upgrade to the brushless main motor but I'm afraid the tail motors wont keep up ar at least will fry faster. Any thoughts?

There's a direct drive "DD" upgrade that seems to hold up pretty well. It's a $25 ish and doesn't require a seperate ESC for the tail...

Yep, the Feigao 12mm BL motors are reported to work great. I run a DD tail on mine, but I'm planning on going to a BL tail in the semi-near future..
Currently I run the GWS F50H motor on my DD tail with a cut down GWS 4530 prop - I chop about 3/8" off each blade, effectively making it a 3.75" diameter, 30 pitch prop. If you're running a 3S LiPo for power, make sure you get the "H" version of this motor. The regular F50 will cook itself very quickly with the higher voltage.
Lots of people have reported good results with the GWS 3030 or 3020 props as well.

i'm running dd tail with hh gyro, holds like a champ, i am also running a futaba 7chp on it. i do mild 3d with it (ie. flips, rolls, inverted, etc) can't do much with a brushed main motor. i'm getting inverted tail in hover down right now.

buzzkill, hmm... good news is... you've got a good quality gyro, bad news is... youdon't really need that one (eflight trying to make money again). i've got a zoom/telebee hh gyro, which is basically the same as the G90 but without digital tail servo capabilities. there is absolutely 0 use for digital servo compatible on the blade since it's running a motorized tail.
i'm currently using the curve prop w/ adapter. however, i've heard that the 2X3 prop will yeild better result, but because the hobby shop that stocks that part is like 30min drive one way, i'll use my current prop until it breaks. tail motor is the CN12 or something, not reall sure.

Thanks guys. Awesome looking bird Biggame. Anything stock on that ?
Chopperdudes, Maybe I can use the G90 down the road someday on something else. (I hope)

@ the time of that pic the only thing stock was the center hup and gear
and I have since changed that to a microheli set up.
I have not flown this heli in months. Guys trust me when I tell you get a sim. and buy a trex you wont soon forget it. I have wasted soooo much money on these cp's in the past and now regret it.

I just bought G3.5 yesterday, maybe DD tail for my CPP butI'm going to try my damndest to stop buying for the CPP. Trex money is ready to go but I'm forcing myself to stick with the CPP and sim until I can hover the CPP in all directions.

You cant go wrong with the G3.5 sim keep practicing and only buy the replacement parts for the CP. Think about it buying upgraded parts for a CP is a waste because its never going to fly that well.

You could try this one.

But I would either fly the Dominion or download a Trex...

Buzzkill,
technically, yes, you can use the G90 on another heli... BUT... first of all, it won't really do that good a job on a bigger heli, ie. a trex, which you want a 401 with either the s9650 or the jr servo forgot which one. secondly, if you take it off the blade, it'll be that much less fun.

So basicly I should have reaserched gyros more or at least asked before I bought it. :arggg:

nah, the G90 is a good choice for the blade.

Dang, the sim helped more than I thought it would. I should have bought this a month ago.

different ppl have different view toward the sim, i do believe the sim will help you get better, however, no matter how realistic the sim acts, it's still different from real life. the heli is perfectly trimmed, orientations, FEAR FACTOR, big one... and power setup. i don't have a sim however i've played with my friends, and the prespective is TOTALLY different from realife... can't tell deapth, and the blade cp on fs-one has UNLIMITED amount power and can do as mny stationary rolls as you want. yes, you can customize the features, but i don' think i'll spend 200+ on a sim. i don't know if i'll need one eventually for hard 3d, but i am doing good up till now with inverted hovering.

How about a BL with the stock geared prop?
By the way, I have a Trex but I just got the CPP because I think it's cool . The Blade is not a Trex but the Trex is not a Blade either. They each
fill their own purpose well.

Just did the DD tail this afternoon. Got to fly the thing tonight. Great advice guys. I like the response. No more playing with the gain on the G90. Finaly I can hammer the throttle and my tail doesnt kick out. Swings with release but thats due to the setup or lack of belt I suppose.
On the sim. Opinions differ but, I am glad I spent the $200. No its not real but it has greatly improved my two packs a night flights. For me it is helping with the "dumb thumbs" or the O'crap factor. DD tail definately helps my CPP fly lmore like what I do in the sim. Frankly its extended the life of this bird and saved it from the dreaded shelf. I think I'll hold off on the Trex for a little while longer.
