ROFL.. ok..it sounds WAY better than it probably is. I got it before I got a deal on a mini zap used.

I bought JUST the heli for $50 new (about $65 after shipping!), I'm reading through the book and it states needing a Brushless 4100 RPM/Volt and a 11.1v Lipo or Lion battery.. wooooow.. is that a typo or what? That's more power than my Trex with the 3350 motor (If I understand correctly the KV is the same as the RPM/Volt).

Anyway the plan was to have fun with the zap/pixy or whatever the heck it is, and slowly build up spares to equip this bird but I'm starting to wonder... heh.. anyone have any experience with birds of this size? the cover states it's a 3kRPM heli, 520MM main rotor, 485mm lenghts, 360g-380g with electronics and battery. It's combination of AL and plastic construction. I'm starting to wonder if it will just take trex parts :D

anyway....any help on this is welcome, so far the only thing I don't like is the tail being stiff. When I rotate the main rotors the tail is very stiff. I'll be looking into that now.

You cant determine the motor size by kv alone. I have a 3800kv motor on mine and my trex 450 se 3550kv motor is way biger than it.

I'm pretty excited, the bird has alot of aluminum in it. I'm just concerned about spares/repair parts atm.

Jermo,

Brushless 4100 RPM/Volt and a 11.1v Lipo or Lion battery.. wooooow.. is that a typo or what? That's more power than my Trex with the 3350 motor (If I understand correctly the KV is the same as the RPM/Volt).
KV (rpm/V) says nothing at all about power or efficiency. The choice of motor KV relates to the operating voltage (in this case 3S = 11.1V nominal), desired headspeed (apparently 3000rpm) and gear ratio (which comes from the no. of teeth on the pinion and main gear). Since this heli is much smaller and lighter than a TRex450 I would think it doesn't need a >300W motor like the 430L.

Good luck with your new toy :D

hehe..ty sir.. it gives me something to do between repairs/flights :D

I'm not at the point I want to fly in wind (even light). I was hovering last week and couldn't keep it in the box due to wind. Altitude control was nearly non-existant ..6' to 40' and back, was all over the yard just to keep it undercontrol. Ended up nose into the wind landing and snapped my tail blades (because I didn't compensate enough for the wind when the nose was gusted up). My relflexes are still slow but I'm having fun. The Rexxie is the mildest thing I've ever flown (especially with a high head speed, makes it more stable/controllable imho).

I can't wait to see what a micro does inside. I'm expecting it to be a squirrel.
