Does anyone know if there have been any problems with mechanical failures on the Aurora? I was told by some guys that there were a lot of Aurora crashes at the Las Vegas Fun Fly. I have one on preorder but just wanted to know what the deal was, if any.

The only problem with the Aurora, is that I don't have mine yet. :D

This was brought up and explained on RR and the Avant RC support forum.

I'm happy flying what I own, so there's no agenda on my part, I have talked with Augusto and some team pilots, and from what I understood is there are some pre-production prototypes that can be improved. Not that they are sub-standard, just that they 'could' be made better.
Augusto has stated on more than one occasion that he will not release the model until it's ready.
When the tolerances of parts chosen at random meets the QC/ QA standards the Augusto demands, we will see the kits, not before.
Quit whining and keep watching, it gets closer to release everyday.

I have a Stratus,Vibe, and evo 50 to fly,so i dont mind waiting.Once the Aurora is relesed all this will be foregotten. Then the part fit and quality pissing and moaning will begin :arggg:

If the Aurora is anything like my EFX I don't think there will be much pissing and moaning about the parts. It's the easiest thing I've ever seen to work on and the parts quality and fit are second to none.

Samere here, I agree with Medflight, my EFX is topnotch, and so are the parts. I have NEVER had an issue with part quality on my Avant. everything fits precisely the way it should, without having to jimmy rig things to fit.

Take this as your second warning. Not to mention you have no freaking idea WTF you are talking about. I know you have some personal problem with Augusto and/or Avant but what you type is total :bs
Here is the REAL DEAL. I watched Avants fly for 3 days straight!!! Alan and Danny, H C , Elvis, Marcus had their tent right in front of my trailer at the B-Ham event. I watched them fly all weekend and the ONLY time they smashed into the ground was on a "pilot error" There were no "parts breaking in the sky".
Did they have issues when they were testing the helicopter in months past? Sure thats why it is called "testing" or "not production ready".
If you do not want an Avant for whatever reason fine... but unless you have some hard facts, please take you lies and conspiracy theories elsewhere. Thank you.

Guys,
Augusto did email me regarding what had happened. Mostly older mods on the heli that were still fixed. I didn't mean this to be a "bash Avant" thread. I have mine on preorder and some knucklehead had planted some doubt into my head.
I'm anxiously awaiting my Avant but I'm glad it's not my only heli. Otherwise, I would have given up on it and bought another. The wait is killing me.

I must say that AUGUSTO will not put anything on the market unless its 100%. He's the most ANAL person I know. He takes pride in what he does.
I would suggest be patient, good things come to those who wait. I know some of you have been waiting for a while now. But realize this ''The more you wait, the more bulletproof the heli is".

Well, then maybe Augusto should hold on to it for about five years then everyone will be really, really happy when they get it.

Medflight,
Man, I see your posts in all the forums regarding the release of the Aurora and it simply seems that it may not be the heli for you based on YOUR time frame. You consitently say that your "not bashing Augusto" but geezus your posts tell a different story.
Every one wants the heli to be released many, many individuals and companies have money invested into the Aurora and all want to see it released so they can start getting a return on their investment.
It doesn't matter how much you whine about the Aurora not being here yet...it isn't going to get here any faster. You know this, you have been told many times already.
If you want it, you need to wait..as do hundreds of other pilots all who want the same thing....Aurora.

My last post wasn't bashing Augusto. If it does become more bulletproof and sweeter the longer we wait, it could only be a plus.
The parts and support provided by Augusto/CX are top notch. I just don't like the way we've been strung along since IRCHA. I was flat out lied to at IRCHA. With all the changes and improvements that have been made, they knew it wasn't even close to production but it that what they were telling everyone; NO. Since then it has been one thing after another. The latest is the premature pre-orders that Augusto told Kurt he could start taking. I may be wrong, but I believe that on Feb. 12th, HP thought the kits would be long out the two months down the road.
Call it whining or whatever you want. I call it honesty and it's a two-way street. I never expected that voicing my opinion would get it here quicker.

I can't believe anyone can say this hasn't been frustrating. People saying things like, "I heard it'll be out by May Day" doesn't help matters either. Everything Augusto has said recently is that their is no more production changes, and that the only hold up is parts manufacturing delays. In this thread people are saying that they've found problems they want to change before the kit's produced??
I have talked with Augusto and some team pilots, and from what I understood is there are some pre-production prototypes that can be improved. Not that they are sub-standard, just that they 'could' be made better.

I believe He's more willing to take the heat for it being late, than to find that people are bitching because something isn't quite right.
Finding new vendors to manufacture something to high standards repeatedly is a PITA, ask Tim Schoonard, or John Beech, hell even The Synergy folks.
Here's one issue that would upset a lot of folks, and Augusto is not happy with. The first run of tail fins was too thin and engine vibs caused resonant vibs in the fin. Augusto wanted a thicker fin, so his vendor came up with a 3+ mm batch.
Uh, no thanks..
these things are thicker than two tail blades stuck together, and looks way out of place. Add the tool marks, and general inconsistancies and you get a piece that could be improved.
This attention to detail is just a small indicator of the level of quality Augusto demands. Go ahead and grumble about the wait, the end product will be worth it.
Quality Control is the mainstay of a successful business as it gives consistent results builds customer confidence that ensures future business.
Kudos to Augusto for having the nutz to stick with what he believes is the rright course to ensure the success and life of his business.
As frustrating as this is for all prospective buyers, with this approach i for one will wait for a quality product to arrive at my local hobby store! :lolol

Augusto has stated on more than one occasion that he will not release the model until it's ready.
A lot of folks seem to have a problem with this concept.
He wants to deliver a great helicopter, "complete" kits (no missing canopies or main gears ;) ), with affordable parts available in a lot of places. UNTIL THAT happens and he is 100% satisfied with the product, that will have his name on it, he will not deliver it.
When it is "ready" you will have your kits.
Augusto may just be a marketing genius too!
Aurora - The kit that everyone is talking about. Yet... is not advertised, and no one has one.

As much as I hate to admit it Dog's last sentance is exactly on the money. No matter how frustrated we get people STILL want a Aurora. I know I do.
