IIRC with the annoucement of the modules was an annoucement that there would NOT be a DX9. So you have to get a 9303 (9xII outside US) and a module.

Can you cite the text where a DX9 was not an option? Just interested.

This may be true from JR's web site....
NEW! JR XP9303 Transmitters Without Modules
Thursday, February 22, 2007
Those moving to Spektrum’s new DSM module will be happy to know there’s the perfect companion product in the JR line—the XP9303, now available in a transmitter-only version without module!
...
- XP9303 Air TX Only w/o Module
- XP9303 Heli TX Only w/o Module
- XP9303 Sailplane TX Only w/o Module
.
If this is true, then they may skip the DX9(9303 style) and go with 10X style transmitter for their high-end model.

JR and Spektrum not the same company. JR will certainly encourage people to buy a 9303 with anybody's module. Meanwhile, Spektrum may (or may not) be brewing a DX9.
I certainly hope so. The 9303 is a better radio than the 10X IMHO, and the opinion of several folks around here who's 10Xs are gathering dust while they fly their 9303s.
Come on DX9!!

Spektrum is Horizon
JR is distributed by Horizon. Maybe not the same company but they have very close business ties.
In October of 2004, Horizon Hobby rocked the RC world by unveiling one of the most revolutionary products to ever hit the market: Spektrum 2.4GHz Digital Spectrum Modulation Technology
Horizon Hobby, Inc.

Absolutely! Close ties - yes. But not the same company. If JR can sell a radio and the same consumer buys a Spektrum module to go in that JR radio, JR will be happier than if that consumer bought an all Spektrum rig. JR would no doubt be happy to see a Spektrum radio sold also, as it has some of their stuff (case molds, some boards in the DX6, etc.). So JR's happiness scale is something like, in order:
1) JR radio (entirely)
2) JR radio, Spektrum module
3) Spektrum radio (entirely)
4) Any other brand
I was just pointing out that 2 and 3 are not equal and it's worth JR's advertising dollars (at least a few) to make (2) happen over (3).
The only strange thing for me is that at the Nurnberg Toy Fair (beginning of these month) I go to the Horizon booth and asked when should Spektrum module came for the 14MZ.
The answer was " not these year "
Also no litterarature or sample to look at.
For such a waited product, at the biggest world's Toy Fair, it is a very strange commercial attitude :dontknow
I use Spektrum products in my Futaba car radio since mid 2005 without trouble. The only thing to say is "good product"

I might have missed it, but will the latency of the MZ module be the same or less than the 9C module?

Latency is from the radio not the module.... Putting a DX module on a 9C would NOT improve the radios nature PPM latency. The 14MZ PPM mode is faster than the 9C.

I guess I worded that a little wrong. I've seen the chart jkos posted. What I'm looking for is a comparison of the dm8 to the 12 or 14 with a pcm rx.

Most of the latency is from the radio. The module (really, mostly the receiver) can have a very small effect. Spektrum has said that their modules will fall in between PPM and PCM (in the same radio!) in total latency.

Would be nice if they published end latency on a converted radio.... If thier RX is going to add some then how much?

I'm betting the RX doesn't add any latency to speak of. But hopefully Kenneth will weigh in with the real data.

Who cares as long as it's less than PCM? I don't know anyone that uses PPM with a PCM radio.

I did for years. Still do on my planks. It's not that I recommend it, I just have some PPM RX's lying around.

The latency of the 9c in pcm is higher than in ppm. I'm using my 12z in pcm 1024 because of the price of the 2048 receivers. You can almost get two 319 synth. receivers for the price of one 5014. I'd like to know if the latency of the 12z/14mz with the mz module is closer to ppm or pcm before I pre-order one. I think the latency of the 12/14 in pcm 2048 is only a few milliseconds slower than the DX7.

I've just heard from my LHS (owned by Ripmax) that Futaba are bringing out there own 2.4Ghz modules for the 9C 12 and 14MZ end of April/May. How true it is we shall see

We have a booth for Toledo and will be selling the produc there. "
The above is a quote from the XPS site forum.
http://www.xtremepowersystems.net/index.php
Now unless this company has another name, or they are sharing a booth at the show.
There is no listing for them on the list of exhibitors that was just posted in the last couple of days for the Weak Signals Trade Show
Only one that is close and may be them is E-Power RC.
But usually most vendors want the correct name of there company printed on the map of the exhibitors that are handed out to people visiting the show.

They are listed on page 5 on that link you gave, which is the next page after page 4. (The page numbers on the bottom only go to 4)

Andreas,
thanks for the correction. I thought I had looked throughly thru the list. See some exhibitors that are usually there missing, And see some new ones there that have not been before. Toledo is the grand daddy of hobby trade shows.

MarkD,
You wont see them until the end of this year at the earliest. Futaba have'nt even started them yet.
But when they do come, they will be worth the wait - full use of ALL channels.
Module for the 9 ch series should be available by late summer 2007

Why has Spektrum pulled the release date for the modules from thier web site?
