Use your TX timer!
Set yourself rules within your flight, I use the following:

Only a landing when the timer has sounded counts as a success.
Moving outside a roughly 30x30 square in front of me = land and reset.
Nearly taking my head off = land and reset.
Crash (obviously) = reset.

I was wondering why my sim time wasn't converting to real life as well as it should, with lots of crashes trying to fly backwards/backwards inverted. This method showed me I wasn't nearly as good as I thought I was. Having to start again from scratch with only 30 seconds left on your timer is a great way to keep you from ignoring sim crashes.
