Ok, who's gonna run out and spectrumize your 9C or your 9303.
Looks like it was announced yesterday (ok not officially on spectrum website, but all over RR). I was very excited as I have been waiting on this XPS stuff (which looks like it will never happen), I thought sweet, maybe I'll pick one up at the upcoming Toledo RC show, but looks like the cost of the module plus Rx is like $299!

Hope you arent using the 9th channel cuz the 9c has to run in ppm mode which is only 8 channels.

Yeah I saw that. the 9th channel on the 9C was always weird anyways, it was only on/off or something like that, no variable amount.
I'm not using it right now. :D

Where did you see this? Anything for a 12/14MZ, or just the 9C?

yes, they are making an 8ch module for the 12/14MZ

I assume they will need to get a feed from the trainer port plug since the 14MZ module is just an RF amplifier and the module connector does not carry the pulse train. Or maybe they could demodulate the weak RF signal to reconstruct the pulse train. A bit crude but would work.

Hmm... I wonder why only 8 channels for the Futaba versions. Any idea Angelos?

I thought the 9th channel on the 9C only worked in PCM mode anyways. i.e. there is no channel 9 in ppm mode.
To use this new spectrum module, you run the Tx in PPM mode, so you lose the 9th channel, so they only made an 8 channel????
Am I the only one that thinks $300 for the module and Rx is a bit steep since I will be using my own Tx already?

That makes sense for the 9C, but what about the 12/14MZ? These can do 9 channels, no problem. Maybe it has the same PPM limit, although as Angelos says, the 12/14MZ module se is different. The Spektrum MZ module looks massive, so something is going on. :)
And , no, you AREN'T the only one who thinks these are VERY pricey!

Thanks,
Isn't the whole stupid DX7 like $300ish?? I think that even comes with servos!

The DX7 doesn't seem that well set up for heli/AP use just yet. They ought to get ahold of guys like us before they go to a DX9 to help with layout. Like...um a slider?

Agreed. I don't have a DX7 as it does not have enough channels for me anyways. I was just talking about it for a price reference though. It is a whole new Tx with servos for barely more than what they want to sell me a module for.

Yes, the DX7 package deal is only $349 and you get four DS821 digital servos that work just fine.
I too hope the DX9 has some sliders. It would be nice to have the variable gain back for the AP-2000i. What I think will be an even more important feature would be the ability to bind to two different receivers. I need a separate receiver on the camera mounts as they rotate 360 degrees. If the DX9 has this capability I will be able to dump the Optic 6, and just use a single radio.
I have been spoiled by the "extra" responsiveness that I had with the 14MZ/G3 combo, and now the DX7. It looks like the 14MZ implementation is kluge, and is only good for 8 channels. I doubt it will have the same "direct response" quickness you get with the G3s, or the ability to use two receivers. For me, I'll stick with the DX7 and maybe switch over to the DX9, depending on the features. It looks like unless there is a dual receiver capability, I'm still going to need the Optic 6 and the AR6000s for the camera/mount.

I will spektrumize my 9303 as soon as XPS releases their products. The DX7 does not have a slider so its no good for adjustable gains with the ap2000. I have heard with propaganda wheel spinning so hard with the release of the spektrum stuff, that at the toledo show they will be releasing a DX9, not sure if this will be in a 9303 form or 10X but would be interesting.
I am going with first out on this one so if XPS gets their act together then I will get that, they also offer the Telemetry system that fits in your old 72 mHZ antenna hole.

any new updates for anyone now that xps has the modules ready for the public on their website
and Jr has modules and radios in the 2.4 range
and futaba has theirs comming along new 2.4 radios
and spectrum has their module coming soon but no news on a dx9 radio yet
what is everyone planning to use

JR has announced the release of both the X9303 and 12X 2.4 radios. They are slated for delivery in the next 30-60 days from what I last heard.
The X9303 is the fabled DX9

I talked to xps at the toledo show about 10 times. Their system uses bi-directional communication, so they have telemtry with their system.
The standard telemetry package is suppose to have altitude, temp, and voltage.
The telemetry board is suppose to fit in your standard antenna slot, have a display, and an earbud jack so it can talk to you. I asked if it would be able to speak to me the altitude every couple of seconds, and they said yes.
Their failsafe in and out, and their oops my bec just glitched, now I'm back is 90 ms, they showed this to me. I have heard the spectrum and futaba systems take 2-5 seconds to get control back. That may be too long.
They also told me they were going to do a 900 mhz tx/rx system for those who are using 2.4 downlinks. They said the 2.4 downlink would be better than 900 since higher bandwidth, and the 900 mhz for Tx/Rx would be less crowded than 2.4 ghz because of all the stuff that it 2.4 these days, plus the 900 would have twice the range as the 2.4.
I'm waiting a while to hear the reports on their stuff. Plus the first modules shipping now are not field upgradeable. The new ones will be.

I'm with Scott. I'd don't want to be caught in the soon to be overloaded 2.4 band. While it may not be such an issue in the normal daily AP use, if you want to go to an event it might be back to waiting for a pin

interesting news about the 900 mhz radio and receivers dont know how well i would trust a radio system on that frequency and you would possibly need an FCC license to operate in that bandwith possibly
Well I asked is because i have a Dx7 and plan on using it on my bergen with an AP2000i but if i can get the programming then i will stick to my Futaba 9chps and possibly get the XPS system - or the Spectrum Module system or lastly the futaba module system
I also run an e rap titan front mount on a futaba 9ch pcm system
for peace of mind i would like to switch it to spectrum
I do like the JR Spectrum module with the 9 ch receiver that has the double receivers setup for lock in featurehttp://www.spektrumrc.com/ProdInfo/Gallery/SPMAR9000-GAL1.jpg
here it is pictures with the glitch counter device

Same here! but i think it got VERY silent about the xps system........
Has anyone got their stuff?
Forum upgrade when releasing product? "Bad timing?"
Sent pm to Jim Drew! No Answer?
Maybe just a coincidence.

It's not so silent, there is a very active thread on it over at rcgroups.
