Wow! Gorgeous video. But I must say, that was some pretty hostile terrain to be over flying in a 30+ year old 182.

So DJ, do you think it will fit on your Taylor Craft? No struts on the Mooney.

I suppose since this is a "removable" mount, there is no problem with having it certified by a CFM?

Not this exact mount but I think I will fabricate something similar for the Taylorcraft this summer.

yep... This is something that will most likely need a Form 337 Field Approval to be legal. Since it does not involve cutting of the airframe it shouldn't require an STC.

I was there for "Jungle to Jungle" filming with the Wescam. I wouldn't call that Rock Solid as the voice over said. Watch the movie and you'll see what Rock Solid is all about. That wing mount never stopped rocking. I bet DJ can fix that for the TC with a roll gyro. Only problem is getting it STC'd, that is a nasty process if ya never been through it.

DJ,

We can use a 337 for the clayburn arms but clamping brackets to the airframe requires STC. It's considered an airframe mod, even without cutting into it. Structural integrity, harmonics, W&B, load points, etc. have to be proven safe.

A really dangerous place too! That river is like a highway for helis and fixed wing. If you lose an engine and crash in the canopy of trees, you'll fall far enough to not be seen from the air AND not hit the ground to be found that way either. You get stuck IN the trees and may never be found. The river is your best chance. I stayed with the crew at Kanima and enjoyed some really awsome scenery. Funny I wasn't interested in still photography then, only cinematography. I kick myself now for not even carrying a simple point and shoot. :arggg:

The company making that mount has done some really nice stuff with IMAX and skydiving videography that I have seen.
