There is not.

Given the number of plugs/cables/connectors you have to manipulate when moving the receiver between aircraft... rebinding should only add about 30 seconds to this procedure.

Tip: If you don't use a switch harness on both models, consider leaving a 3 to 6 inch extension in the battery port. This makes getting the bind plug in much easier.

ok, thanks for the tip btw

it has model memory for 20 models so you don't have to rebind. binding is done once per model (given that you use different recievers in each model). just choose your desired model memory from the menu and you are set to go. that is, if you don't have more than 20 models...

So you are saying you are using the same RX and moving it between different models and you want to use different models on the TX for the same RX. Do you have to rebind when you do that?

i see what you mean now... maybe you can bind the same reciever to more than one model memory and then move it around between different models. i'll try that today! i have an extra reciever to play with. (i need to buy me a plank too...) :)

You have two options if you want to use one reciever for 2 or more models.

1. Have different models in your tx and rebind each time you select a new model..

or

2. Bind the RX to model 1. and have a copy of each model in the other model numbers and name it so it has diffent names. To use each model, just COPY that model profile into model 1. The catch is, any changes you made to this current model will have to be copy back the saved model. Your fails save or startup position will be the same for all model though.

Yes, if you use different model memories. Per a post below, you could use the same model memory via copying things around in the transmitter. One model and copy is much more work, and much more risk of messing something up, than rebinding.

Remember, when moving the receiver, you've had to unplug it, replug all the servos, etc. Re-Binding adds only a few seconds to all of this physical manipulation and ensures start-up and/or failsafe is set correctly.

This last bit cannot be overstressed: What if throttle is 'backward' between the two models? Due to different ESC or throttle linkage difference on a glow?

Rebind! It's easy, painless and MUCH SAFER to you, your model, and bystanders.

Ok, soapbox mode off now... :)

You're absolutely right. I would go for an extra reciever, but if you're on a tight budget moving the reciever around would be an option.

For all the discussion here, I have a genuine requirement for removing model match. A friend and I share some airframes... he uses long sticks and a tray, while I use neckstrap and RCStyx stubbie sticks.

He loathes my sticks, and if he wants fly a plane bound to my DX7 has to remove my sticks and his, swap them over and mount my DX7 onto his tray.

We know we could just rebind each time, but is there an alternative???

Nope.

If you are really going to do this a LOT, set up a "Bind harness" that has a small switch in it. That would make rebinding even quicker.

Buddy cord them together! He can then fly on his TX using your settings. :glasses2:
