OK I will go first :D My Ion has been ordered for some time now and I like many others are gearing up for it's arrival. I have all my servos, receiver, gyro and so on ready to go. Cant Wait. Below is the list of stuff to support the new chopper.
1. Ion-X complete with Hacker motor and controller and two sets of Thunder Power 8000 Ion batteries. On order
2. EU-1000i Honda generator
3. 35amp 12v power supply
4. Two Astro flight 109 deluxe chargers
5. Three 9252s
6. 601/9251
7. 149DP PCM
8. Dura Lit 4000ma with regulated switch.
So do I have it all covered or am I forgetting any thing?? :)

You will probably want a voltmeter. The Astroflight Whatt meter might be nice for the first few flights.
I can't wait to here how these do.

Russ,
You might can go with the 2900 mah Duralite pack. Since your going to be charging batteries for the heli. You could always plug the Duralite charger in and be charging the receiver battery at same time. Just a suggestion if you might be looking to save another oz or two.

Yes, I never used Dura lits before, I asked for the 2900 to save wight but the gall pretty much insisted I get the 4000 for a 60 size heli. When I received the batt I was impressed how light/small it is for 4000ma but still on the heavy side for the Ion as I would like to continue Min Airs example of cutting the weight. I figure I will try it, if for some reason I think I need to reduce the wight I will put it in a glow model and get a 2900 for the Ion. :)

Yes a volt meter/watt is a great idea, Thanks.

Rachelle can be pretty presistent. She does want to make sure you get the right battery for the application.
The 2900 mah pack would work fine in the IonX. Like I said earlier, you can just put the rx pack on charge each time you charge the power batteries. I believe the IonX that Jason is flying is using a 1500 mah nicad pack that comes from Futaba.

Has anyone been using a generator to power a computer charger such as the Schulze, Astro, Orbit, etc.? Looking at Honda's website, there doesn't seem to be anything with enough DC output. Bummer.

Hi Scoty,
The Honda's don't put out any directly usable 12v power, there 12v power source is only for charging 12v batteries. This is the reason for the 35amp regulated power supply, it changes a max of 600w 110v AC to a max of 600w, 35a 12v DC.
It would be cool if Honda had something the size of the EU1000 that would provide both 1000w 110AC or 1000w of 12v DC, it could be selectable. To easy!

Hello all
Let me start by thanking all you for your interest in this model and your continued patience while we work out the last few pre-production details. Kits will begin shipping in the next 7 days.
I would also like to thank those that created this site and it's various forums. This is much needed in this market and it is my sincerest hope that you are wildly successful.
I have a million thoughts to share but do not just want to spew them out all at once as I fear the mess would take a week to clean up. If you have any specific questions regarding the care and feeding of this model, please ask.

Russ,
I have two of the IonX's on order @ Rick's with almost the exact same configs as yours except using R309DPS rcvr's.
I have a trailer set up that I carry all my RC stuff around in (pics in my RR gallery, will move over here when I get a chance). Have 50W of solar panels on top that keep two car batteries charged. The two batteries will provide approx 150amps of charging, the solar panels will put back about approx 35-50amps a day (average sunlight). I also carry the Honda Eu1000i incase if emergency and to run lites for nite flying :D
I already fly a couple e-helis (eRaptor, Logo24 Bionic) with Lipos', you will really like the Astro chargers. The Whatt meter is a must.
Can't wait for these heli's to show up!! If they are as good as I expect them to be, the nitro ones will be retired!

Hi Tony...thanks
I always purchased my Actros directly from Koehler. You might also try www.rc-dymond.com, they do not list the 32 series but maybe they can get them. You might look into an LRK 430-30 10 pole 12 turn motor. Very similar to the Actro 32-3 in performance. I purchased one of these about 6 months ago from Klause Kraft engineering, Try Jochen@torcman.com, he has been great to work with. Gear that motor at 9:1.

Hi Jason,
I called Craig, he was not there, I talked to Chris, he said they had one Schultz Li Po charger but he could not tell me any thing about it so I had My buddy Rob Clark look in to the matter, he advised the Astroflight 109 deluxe and where I could purchase on-line. I have been playing with a Dragon fly (small E tandem rotor heli) from Dee Tee and have been using the Astro 109 to charge the Li Po pack for this small chopper and the charger is very easy to use and works sweet :D

Hi Mongo,
Are you thinking of thinning your fleet in preparation for the Ion-X? I did this by selling two nitro Extremes to local friends who where not ready for the expense of the Ion and plan to fly Glow for a while longer. I only have a new Extreme and new Tempest 3d left that could be converted in the near future, and a couple of SEs that just sit on the table in the corner and look pretty :D
