Welcome to the PhoenixRC sim forum.

Phoenix is high quality, moderately priced radio controlled aircraft simulator software for Microsoft Windows. Phoenix is published by Runtime Games (http://www.phoenix-sim.com/pages/contact.htm). Phoenix can be purchased from Tower Hobbies (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPNM8&P=ML) in North America and, probably, most other parts of the galaxy. Tower Hobbies is not the only vendor for Phoenix. Perhaps other users will post where they got their Phoenix and, how their buying experience was.

Phoenix currently ships with a USB to radio wire. This wire has a unlock feature for the software. You cannot control the models without the included wire.

The user is expected to use their own RC radio controller with Phoenix. There are adapters for different radio brands and models.

Your humble moderator is using a JR XP6102 (6 channel) controller with Phoenix and, I am happy with the combination. However, I think at least 7 channels would be best for Phoenix.

Please contribute any comments, suggestions, tricks and knowledge about [using] Phoenix you believe to be helpful.

Thanks,
jrohland

ThanksThe TRex models have been well tuned with the help of an accomplished pilot. I hear they are quite good. Since everyone's models are built with different components and setup differently, it is unlikely any sim will fly just like yours.

The physics feel close to me. They have improved with every update.

Yes, Phoenix works very well with a DX7. There are a number of ways to use your radio in Phoenix. You can tune Phoenix to use your radio as it is setup for your model. Or, you can setup a model in your radio to work well with a more default Phoenix setup. I offer this (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=34568) thread as a starting point for the DX7. You can follow it or, do it your way. Good software gives you options.

It seems everybody is out of stock on the Phoenix sim. It must literally be "flying" off the shelves.

Anyway, I finally found out that amainhobbies had/has it in stock (coincidentally where I buy most of my 1/8 scale buggy stuff).

So if anybody else is having problems getting it...give them a try.

Oh, and since my first post mentions me buying a sim instead of asking how to keep from crashing don't I win a prize or something?

I ordered mine direct. Many people have found that they get it faster from the UK than from Tower. :)

But if ReadyHeli has it in stock, they ship QUICK.

I ordered mine from England since everyone here was out. Got it today. Is there supposed to be a manual? I have the CD and the patch cord. I got the Trex600 set up and finally got the controls to match my setup after a bit of experimenting. The only thing I cannot seem to get to work is the idle up and throttle settings. I have good throttle up to full positive and negative (acts like it is always in idle up) but cannot get a linear (normal) setting. Since I have no manual - thought I would ask if there should have been one.

Thanks in advance. Think I am really going to like this a lot better than G3.5

LLB757 posted that almost a year ago. You will find that Tower Hobbies is always "out of stock" for Phoenix. A sore point for many on the forum, and dicussed in several threads.

The phoneix sim does not come with controller and i was wondering if i should just purchase Real flight G4 as it comes with a controller too.

OR if you think Phoenix is definitely superior then please suggest a controller simillar to what is packaged in the realflight G4 box.

Your thoughts between the above 2 sims are greatly appreciated.

thanks
