That looks like the ones I have seen. I don't know if Hatori is making different model of mufflers for gas engines. But that muffler looks very similar to the couple I have seen on the Spectra helis.

yeah Will thats it.
MA helped Hatori develop this muffler specifically for use with the Spectra, however it will work with any installation of the G231/G26 (its interchangeable for left or right side installation)
MA has some on order but I don't think they have arrived yet

I remember paying $149 for an FMF racing pipe for my 95 KX250 and I thought that was too high!!! Now... no big deal to pay that for a dang little glo engine. Where's the justice?

that is to much $$ for a muffler even if it is big

It is a lot, but it is the best thing going right now. Looking forward to real tuned pipes. :D

It is a lot of money for a muffler. But it is less than $50 more than the Hatori's that are for the 90 glow engines.
SB 16 FH $160
Spectra G $218
Both those prices are from Rick's R/C

I agree 100% David. I don't mind paying the extra 50 for an EXCELLENT muffler. All the Hatori's I have ever owned were great mufflers and this is no exception. :)

I have done extensive testing using the prototype of this muffler as Miniature was involved in it's design. It is semi-tuned and does have the necessary volume and baffling for the high performance desired from the gasoline motors (only one that supports over 12,000 RPM). So far, as Will stated, it is the best thing going as far as performance. The unit is very durable as well, ask me how I know. It is by far, the quietest system ever designed for the gaso/heli market.
The pricing of R/C heli specific items is high of course, so the new Hatori is a very good value, relatively speaking.

I am really looking forward to seeing how it does on this new 26. :D
Thanks for all the help yesterday John!!

This pipe can be bought much cheaper at cyberheli if anyone is interested. I think for 179.00 almost $40.00 cheaper. the only catch is shipping. However i also purchased a GV-1 for $20 cheaper as well so the shipping didnt mean much.

Rick's has always stood very well behind anything I bought and had a problem with. I don''t mind paying a few bucks more for the piece of mind.
Thanks for the heads-up though, that is a few bucks cheaper.

I agree with Will. Ron at Rick's and Richard Sabin at Hatori USA support the products they sell. I don't mind paying a few dollars more when I can call them on the phone and get any problem taken care of quick and easy.

FWIW:
pipe is making good sound and power with a Hanson mod 26 in a P-gasser. Using 6.9 ratio, 1750-1900 headspeeds.
Thought you would like to know.

What ratio will the spectra come with?
Thanks

Thanks for the info James! It seems that the design does work well, even in other applications as well. That's what is all about. I need to get the Hatori adapter for mine as I use a prototype adapter and it's getting a little worn  The production model is through drilled side to side and bolted to help keep it on. :arggg:

James, I will be using the same setup you have in your machine in my spectra. It is nice to hear that you are liking it. :D
I just wish I knew if the stock gear ratio is the right one for this setup. Time will tell.

The gear ratio will be just fine for that set up. That pipe is the only one that I have found to support the RPM without a power loss. The stock muffler actually does OK at the RPM, it will scare away everyone at the field though
