Got my ap2000i over thee weekend and was getting it all set up and i need to figure out how to get the gain set on the 401. So i plugged the gain wire into the unused 4 servo spot and set the trim on the menu. Is this what others are doing for setting the gyro gain? And when setting the trim for the 4th servo on the ap2000i is the +1-+50 for heading hold?

I have a Hitec servo tester that I used to measure the actual output from a Futaba receiver and match it against the output from the AP-2000.

What I found was a trim setting for channel 4 of +9 was just about equal to a 60% gain in HH mode from a Futaba receiver. I have 2 of my helis set up this way to free up an extra channel. One of them is set to +10 and the other one is set to +12. You might start out hovering with it set to +9 and tweak it as needed from there.

Initially I had incorrectly assumed that a +30 on the AP-2000 would equal 60% gain. I tried to lift the heli into a hover, but the tail was extremely senstive and started a wild oscillation. A friend gave me the tester so I could read the actual output signal.

I just plug a spare servo with arm into the output of the RX channel 5 with the correct gyro sens set. Mark the arm position.

Now plug the servo into the servo 4 output on the ap2000i and adjust trim 4 until the arm moves to the same place you marked.

Poor mans servo tester. :D

If there's an easy way and a hard way to do something, why do I always come up with the hard one? :dontknow
