If you can actually buy one and receive it ... let us know

I'll believe it when I plug one into the back of my 14MZ and it works.
Till then it's still vaporware.
I am not trying to condemn this or any product.
After a comment that was made by one of the Spektrum engineers last Friday, I am not sure that they are as close as they are implying.
This is just my opinion at this point based on the melting pot of info that I read over the weekend.

then how come everybody is expecting the release on April ?

Everyone is expecting an April release because that is what the designers/manufacturers have told us.
I am just saying that I will believe it when I see it. :dontknow
And when I see it then I will buy it.
Unless Futaba explodes onto the scene in the next month with something spectacular like a 14MZ module. I will be getting either the XPS or Spektrum system.

Why settle for only 9 channels on the 12-14mz?

Modules for JR radio are supposed to be out in April..The modules that fit Futaba are expected a month later.

unless your flying scale, I don't think you'd need more than 8 channels right? ,, I mean a typical nitro heli.. needs Ail, Elev, Throttle, Rudder, Gyro, Pitch, Governor.. thats 7 channels..

That is correct Ali.
Throttle, Aileron, Elevator, Rudder, Gyro, Collective, Governor 1, Governor 2,
That is if you use the Futaba GV1 that has 2 extra leads to plug into rx to get full benefit. You would only need 9th channel if you used a mixture control.

Or you have 4-90 CCPM!!
R-4-L

Current spektrums comes with a 7channel Rx.. so even those are out of the question if you want to use more toys in your heli.. thats why I said Typical nitro heli..
but what is a 4-90 CCPM ?
DavidH

It is 4 Servo eCCPM. It is 90 deg swash plate with a servo controlling each point of the swash plate. So it uses pitch, aileron, elevator and another channel to control the swash. So if using the GV1 as a governor would need 9 channels. But if using some other governor could also get by with 8.
4 for the swash, 1 for throttle, 1 for rudder, 1 for gyro, 1 for governor.
David
> Till then it's still vaporware.
Definitely not vaporware. Units have been out in the field under test for many months now (as Horizon always does before release).
BTW, it is possible to do 4-90 eCCPM with only six channels using a CSM Cyclock. Aileron, elevator, collective, rudder, gyro gain, and throttle. If you use a V-Bar you're down to five channels since there is no gyro gain channel needed.

I always like it when people say I don't NEED that many channels.
I don't NEED to fly heli's...I do it as a hobby
I WANT to fly helis and I WANT 12 channels!!
Yes it is very true I could use different Governors, Gyro's or a V-Bar but why should I have to ?
I know what radio and module I am going to use. That is what makes this hobby great.....Personal Choice

is this module going to allow us to still have the 2048 resolution that is such a big sell point on the 12z and 14z

No, it's using the PPM signal from you TX to convert it to 2.4ghz... Me personally, I will wait a little bit longer for a "futaba" solution
I hope they will offer a conversion for the 14MZ making it suitable for 2.4ghz as well as all other frequencies etc.. changing the software and sending it in for a hardware update  Ahh wel... one can dream...

sending it in for a hardware update
That I heard is a fact which is a bummer... I hope the cost is not reakin beyond reasonable!

I wouldn't mind sending my radio in if the cost was reasonable (I'd be willing to pay up to what a DX7 costs) and the turn around time was quick.
