Hi, what would it be the best blade size (both main and tail) and which pinion/gear for them to work together in a R90???
I guess it is has to do also with which engine... which also takes me to the next question.
I'm thinking of a OS SZ-H but I saw the YS is like $100 cheaper
I know if I ask which one is better it will be the old Ford/GMC question but why the difference in price? It's like 30%.
Anyone would like to cooperate to help me make my ignorance a bit more bearable???
Thanks,
Ferincr,
You do not mention what type of flying you are planning but if it is 3D I would recommend the following.
Go with the OS 91 SZ with 11T pinion and 91T main gear (white) (8.27 ratio) and carbon 710mm blades. 105mm on the tail.
I also recommend the metal RT-11 QuickUK tail grips with thrust bearings to prevent exploding tails! (SUS hub upgrades help does not include recommended thrust bearings) The Raptor 90 uses the same tail grips as the Raptor 30 and have been know to separate the standard bearings with heaver tail blades. Therefore it is my recommendation to not use larger or heaver tail blades unless you use the RT-11.
9451's are faster for cyclic but I still recommend 9351 for collective. Run servos at 6V and the tail at 5.3V (Duralite recommended here). Last but not least upgrade to the push/pull elevator (PV0463) and the Collective support brace (PV0337).
That my 2 cents. (I guess it is a bit more then that!)
OS91-SZ-H PH-Hyper w/Pump & Regulator $400
710 carbon blades $90-$120
110 carbon tail blades $30
91T main gear $9.71
QuickUK RT-11 $60
PV0337 $6.74
PV0463 $33.74
S9351 $110
S9451 $80
Duralite 65060-HD 6V reg $60
Duralite 7434FL 4200 mah Li-ion bat $93
tail step down 55053 $17

Dave,
Thanks for jumping in.
As for the fly style, I would love to say 3D although all I can do at the moment is some lousy loops and flips (and tic toc only in the sim).
I already got the Quick Uk RT-11, ordered the 9351's (I wasn't sure what for the cyclic so I got all the same).
To start I think I'll need to run everything on 4.8 since I'm "running lean" and don't want to overheat the CC to much.
In the near future I get the 6Vsystem (which I'm still hesitant between LiPo's and A123's) and the other upgrades (PV463 and PV0337).
Is it woth it to go with the GY611 / Logitech 6100??? or just the old faithful GY401 would do?
Thanks one more time,
torkboy

Actually Ive read about the duralite regulators going bad, so I personally reccomend the arizon reg from www.fromeco.org
The 40 will do the job.
