I have been jumping from post room to post room. I have been saying Im buying this, comparing that. Please don't think I'm crazy if you have seen my posts in other rooms. But everytime I think I have it nailed down someone tells me anohter great story about a heli....
Now the EVO 50 is also in the running against the century falcon 50 and the Raptor 50. so far I am still leaning Falcon. In fact i called to place the order at heliproz and was told about the EVO
What can you guys add to my confusion? Thanks for all your input. i want a heli that will 3D but yet give the pilot a secure feeling behind the sticks..... Kinda like a finely tuned race car...

No doubt, You can't go wrong with the Sceadu Evo , I have that and a Raptor 50.
Both are good , Evo does have advantages over the Raptor on a few things, but Parts do cost a little more and are not as common in local hobby shops as the Raptor parts.
Century I have not owned or flown. I have seen them do well though
Good luck

Either the Raptor or the EVO will make you very happy. Like Mike said parts are cheaper in many cases for the Raptor and its a little bit tougher, the EVO is smooth and refined. Either one will cut loose in the right hands.

I have two Evo's and would not have anything else, they fly well, they look good.
Here in the UK parts are cheaper for the EVO than for a Raptor :smokin:
Out of the box the EVO is good to go I hear for the Raptor you need to upgarde the head for 3D, but not having had a Raptor I can't say that is true :dontknow

You have to upgrade the Raptor head for extreme 3d, and high head speed. Out of the box the Raptor is, in my opinion, more 3d capable than the Evo is. That being said, the Evo is a more stable/precise machine. I have owned both, and personally perfer the higher 3d capable feel of the raptor over the stable/precise feal of the Evo.

EVO you can do extreme 3d out of the box, you can't with the raptor, so thta makes the EVO more capable in anyones book :arggg:
EVO is a heavier bird though

Just curious, what do you think an evo can do out of the box 3d wise, that a raptor cannot?

nose down tic tocs with EVO, Too much head bobble with the raptor not so good with this

Hmmm...maybe once the head starts to wear out, but not on mine. Aslo, the raptor is quit a bit more nimble than the evo, due to weight, and the top mounted flybar. The Raptor changes direction faster, rolls faster, and flips faster. All this adds up to better 3d performance over the evo.

Also the hoops to the flybar on the Raptor seem to bind and need to be modified, i.e remove some of the material. You don't get that with the EVO, but the EVO has the thin servo tray which will break quickly and you don't get that on the Raptor.
Do a search and see all the Raptor vs Evo threads that have gone before, after reading them all, i bet you still can't decided :dontknow
Both have their good & bad points and it will depend on your local supply of spares and cost of repairs. Both are helis and they fly well and thats all good :glasses2:
"i want a heli that will 3D but yet give the pilot a secure feeling behind the sticks..... Kinda like a finely tuned race car... "
If you want that I would say the Evo if flys like a bigger bird very smooth very stable and very good 3d

Agreed, like I said, I have owned both, and for my flying enjoyment, 3D, I will take the nimble raptor. That being stated, I really don't think you can go too wrong with either model. As for the hoops, I do get some slight rubbing in the corners of the cyclic stick, but one can use a cyclic ring, or just stay out of the corners as I do. Other than that, hoops not a problem.

I own both, I like the Evo better cause I feel it's a better designed machine but a heli is only as good as the pilot that fly's it! but I still stand strong behind my Evo being a better design than raptor and raptors are a better value if you where trying to buy a good heli with lots of potential and cheap parts.
Just my opinion, buy what you think is going to suit you best (Flying and cost).

I have a Raptor, it 3d's like a dream.

top mounted flybar - why would this make a rotor head more "nimble"?
RobRoy

Leverage.

sorry, I don't get it.
Flybar control input is about the characteristics of the flybar and its components and the mixing ratio applied to affect the rotor blades.
Typically, the pivot point on the flybar is about the same distance from the centerline of the blade axle whether its above the main blades or below them. Typically the maximum amount of flybar deflection is also about the same whether it is above or below the blade axle.
please elaborate about leverage.
Evo 50 = Jeff Green
Raven 50 = Irwin Sinner
Nuff said.

I think some times nimble is confused with twichy, I would say the Raptor seems twichy rather than nimble :WOW

Its alot more about pilot and setup than it its helicopter, find something you like and burn a couple cases of fuel.

I have both and the Evo is my pick. Flys more like a 90 size. You can't go wrong with either. Alot is set up and what you get used to. I road race motorcycles and from time to time I will swtich bikes with one of my buddys who is just as fast or faster than me. I invariably loose 5 or more seconds off my times just because I'm not used to their bikes, even though they make the same bike go faster than mine. My .02

Your arguments are very interesting but I am still waiting for my evo 90 to hit my local hobby shop. It was ordered last week and still has not shown up. And some parts that were ordered for another customer and they just showed up after about 3 weeks of waiting and repeat calling. I'm worried I am going to regret getting a heli that is distributed by MRC. I had a run in with them when I purchased their flight sim and it was missing the usb adapter. The person I dealt with basically accused me of stealing it. I was just trying to save the shop from having to call. My local shop was cool about taking it back but I was disappointed with MRC. MRC was supposed to have the birds in stock, horizon and great planes ship twice a week to the shop so I know I will get my product fast. I am just worried about being able to support my local hobby shop. Its nice to have a place to hang out and visit with the local guys about what their building or what is going on at the local flying fields. Well have a good one guys.

I try to share the wealth. Its nice to have a good hobby shop in the neighborhood. Especially on weekend when you can walk in and buy a simple battery pack or servo or glow igniter that would ground you for a day or two.

Wish I had that, the nearest one to me is an hour away and he don't carry heli parts, just fuel and field supplies. I guess thats what you get for living out in the boonys.. LOL
