I got a chance to fly today even though the temps were in the 30's with 15-25MPH winds and a windchill of around 10. After my first very unsuccessful set up of pitch and throttle curves a month and a half ago, today was totally different. :D I got the head speed at 1,700 with +9,0,-9 pitch. The pretty flat throttle curve kept head speed pretty constant without the GV1. I must have had the pitch curve all screwed up which never loaded the engine properly before. :arggg:
Today with the new unobtainable muffler, both mixtures set a 1 3/8 and a relatively flat throttle curve the bird flew great. No vibration, pretty smooth hover and plenty of pulling power without a bog. Couldn't really do much more with the wind. I was also starting to lose the feeling in my fingers. The rest of the week and weekend weather is predicted to be very flying unfriendly as March comes in like a Lion.
The DX7 worked great, coming from a Futaba 7chp, the DX7 felt good and really connected. You have to get use to the response of the radio as I had a tendency to over correct a bit. It's nice not to have to worry about getting shot down or glitches.
Hope the weather improves Monday as I have a friend who just got into the hobby and is dying to get that first hover done. I'd also like to check out the rest of the settings on the DX7.
