Just purchased a temp gun and was wondering what your engine temps have been running? I'm using a hyper 50 and the 91 C-spec. PS with a viper head.
I understand there is not a magical number but I'm looking for a close range to shoot for. Also, is the temp being taken at the head?

Shoot the head at the back of the engine where the head meets the case, look for 175 or so.
It will be hotter in flight when its loaded then by the time you land, stop the blades and check it and you want to keep it under 210-220

Andy, does this go for both engines? Is the 175 or so just after shutdown?

I would take it idling and yes both motors.
The nice thing about the Venom onboard gauges is they show max inflight temp and current temp. You can watch a motor cool down from the time you land and spool it down then after you shut it off the case acts as a heat sink and you can see the temp go back up a little as it pulls the heat away from the head then start to cool again.
