Hi

I have lost my bind plug for the dx7!! Can anyone tell me what the plug consists of ie:(does it have something in the plug itself that makes it bind)or can something be made up to do the job. Doesn't look like any LHS in uk stock this item yet!

Thanks

there's nothing special to it. it just connects the signal pin to the negative pin. not hard to rig up at all.

Use a servo extension cable. Figure out which end you need and cut the other end off. Strip back and short (twist is fine) the "outermost" two wires (cut off and insulate the center wire).

Plug this into the battery port on the reciever. Supply power (batt or ESC) through any other port.
-and/or-
Use this with the original Spektrum switch harness in the exact same way you would have used the original bind plug.

Now I have another problem :arggg: I switch on the transmitter then the receiver and the gyro just sits there blinking! I am trying to set up the trex 450 HDE using the gear switch. The set up for the gain channel is identical to my trex 600 and that works fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Reverse the channel you're using for gain.

There's a video on how to set this up in The Finless Tech room.

Ok I tried reversing the gain, set it up as per video, tried another 401, and the end result still the 401 sits there blinking. Ive rebind, cleared model and started fresh several times. The thing is when I use 35 meg rx and tx it works fine :arggg: :arggg: . Using a 3s lipo 35a esc. does the dx receiver supply 6v or 5v to 401 and would this make a difference?

The GY will handle a regulated 6 volts. If your supplying more than 6 volts the servo is not going to last very long on the tail.

The supplied voltage will not make a difference in the gyro being in AVCS mode or Normal mode. Ever what channel you have the GY single wire plugged in to. Either reverse that channel or flip the switch the other direction that is controlling that channel.
IF not a switch, then try 0 on the ATV for that channel. If the light goes solid when you go to 0. Then 0-50 is AVCS mode and 50-100 is normal rate.

Check the [SERVO MONITOR] screen on the DX7. Do you see the GEAR channel (CH5) moving from from left/right as you flip the switch? It must be in the right "half" of the display at the moment the 401 powers up.

My full setup for GY401 on a T450 with DX7 Tran, AR6000 RX and black/3-wire in RUD and Red/single yellow wire in GER:

NOTE: I prefer the AUX2 physical switch because it's on the right side...

In SYSTEM mode (hold stuff at power up):

[INPUT SELECT]
AUX2 INH
GEAR AUX2

In SETUP mode (nothing held at power up) menues:
[REVERSING SW]
5 and 6 at defaults (NORM or indicater down)

[TRAVEL ADJUST]
Note: hit "select" button until your are on GEAR channel
GEAR
+46 (may vary for you)
-50

[SUB TRIM]
Verify GEAR is zero

That's it! Now check the [MONITOR] screen, throwing the AUX2 switch should show the GEAR channel moving. Always power up the heli with all switches (including AUX2) "back" or "away" from you.

Oh, and VERY IMPORTANT:

REBIND after doing that full setup. The receiver memorizes all channels at bind time and outputs them (except CH1, which ouputs nothing, for motor safety) at power up time... until it "finds" the transmitter. If your RX is outputing factory default (exact middle of channel) on GEAR... that would explain why the gyro won't init!!

RE-BIND after setup. Always.

Minor changes (a few percent here and there on one channel)... you don't have to re-bind.

Its the receiver thats faulty!! I bound it to the TRex 600 which I know is working perfect with my first receiver - and guess what the gyro sits there blinking!! Taking it back to LHS.

Thanks everyone for the advice
