I'm still debating getting an aluminum head setup for my CPP, but I'm falling off the fence towards getting one, if for no other reason that they are easier to work on. (I have a bugger of a time seeing if the plastic pieces are bent, etc)

Mt DD tail stuff is on order, and I'll be getting the brushless stuff shortly.

My question is which one is the best one? I know there's the HDX one and a couple others...

Do you know if that's the "V2" that was mentioned on one of the websites? I *think* that there's a newer version of the HDX head...

One thing I noticed and has me confused about that item: look where the flybar *should* go: there's a screw in the hole. (it's a TREX pseudo clone, so the flybar is below the main blades) Did they just put a screw in there ...

And HERE (http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?products_id=2163) are some bad reviews....

And HERE (http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=30_65&products_id=2983) is a link to the "upgrade" (AKA V2) parts for the HDX head. No clue if the compete head they're selling is the V2 or not :dontknow

They had to have just put a screw in there.

yea but how does it effect the handling having the flybar underf the wings. i dont plan on any 3D flying

I was hoping you'd get one and let us know

You'll like the BL setup. Alot more power. Kicks the tail out more when you punch it but its still cool. I was talking to a guy at my LHS (Rockford, IL) and were going to try the resistor thing with the DD tail setup. Might help with the heat and cooking the things. What motor did you get for the DD tail?

I keep telling myself I'm going to stop putting $$ in the CPP but I'm sure the CNC head and a ESC/BL tail motor is comming soon lol. :WOW

That's why so many of us recommend getting a Trex. Actually cheaper to fly/fix/maintain.

And if just plain flies better.

As soon as I can find one at a LHS I'm getting the 450 SE "new V2". I'm divorced LOL I can do that :D

The problem I'm currently having about getting a TRex vs tweaking the CPP, is that it's "only" $100 here or $30 there...

Also, I'm ordering my DX7, so that's my "big purchase" for the next couple months. I *DO* plan to get a 450 SE (whether V1 or V2 is still in the air) but having the CPP to play with NOW is well worth any hassles or difficulties this airframe causes.

Because of its low price point, I've been "flying"  for a month now, whereas if I had to assemble all the stuff for a TRex, I'd still be buying and waiting... :smokin:

One more reason to look into the CNC head: I keep seeing problems with "sticky collective" on the CPs. I *think* getting away from plastic parts may help minimize this...

Oh, here's another CNC head. It's $30 more and it has several plastic parts:

What motor did you get for the DD tail?

The GWS motor suggested on bladecprepair.com... GW/EDP-50H

And I got 2... just in case

The DD motors arrived today, and here's a weird thing: one of them came with a loose capacitor, the other one has it soldered on. (the loose one has a new, unmounted capacitor - it didn't break off)

Also, I asked a couple questions about the HDX head:

I'm very interested in getting the HDX300-HSTXB (in blue or silver, I'm not picky) as an upgrade for my Blade CP Pro, and I have a couple questions:

1) Someone told me I might need a different main shaft for this upgrade to fit my CPP. Is this true? If it IS different, what is the difference?

2) I see that there is a "V2" upgrade for the HDX300-HSTXB (upgrade part number HDX300-14) Is this upgrade included in the complete head? Or, would I need to buy the head, THEN buy the upgrade?

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

1. The shaft we provide are mostly design to be fit on our hdx300. Therefor it's not a direct drop fit into the stock blade cp. However the head do work, except the shaft is a bit long, so require the 3 servo rod need to be exstended. Or you can buy the one way auto main gear with it, this allow you to slide the shaft further down and adjust that distance. Because the auto one way have a set screw hub on the bottom to tight the main gear to the main shaft.

2. The V2 upgrade are for people who have the older version of the head to upgrade to the new version, there for you do not need to worry about this.

best regard,

Vu

Well, Helidirect dropped the price another $10 (down to $98) so I caved in and bought the HDX head.

The biggest complaint I saw about it was the weak mainshaft, and I'm getting a different one, so hopefully all will be well.

Wish me luck!

6 of one, half a dozen of another...

Trexes have the flybar under the mains, Raptors have the flybar on top, same as the stock CP.

Well its sort of off topic but I recently rounded up all the upgrade parts I had bought but never opened for my older CPPro including CNC head, spare parts, blades, radio upgrades etc. and exchanged them for you guessed it..a brand new CPPro. Took it out of the box, went flying..happy. Then took my older trashed CPPro, stripped out servos, and am building an ESky King with it. Funny how the better I get at flying, the better these fly out of the box. Eflite must be improving their quality.

I bought this head for my BCPP and wish I hadn't wasted my money. The thing is VERY sloppy. The set screws that hold it to the main shaft don't line up with the holes and you end up scoring up your main shaft. The aluminum that the head is made out of is VERY soft. I ended up damaging the center hub trying to get it off the main shaft. I think my biggest complaint about it though is how sloppy it is. On the positive side....it looks cool on the heli :?

Buzzkill picked up the Microheli one and had some install issues, but seems to like it (though it's still pretty new)

I just ordered the TRex knockoff available from Helidirect. 1) it was cheaper, and 2) someone needed to try it so we can compare!
