View Full Version : Burned my Hyperion 3025-10T motor!

I was flying around just doing my normal flight, usually loops, rolls, some hurricanes and tic-tocs. Nothing fancy when all of a sudden, I saw some smoke coming from the Heli. I thought it was my ESC but when I was able to land it (safely) I saw (and smelled) that the smoke was coming from the motor. This motor had been working flawlessly prior to this.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Does anyone have the address to Hyperion? I believe I tossed the box the motor came with.
Thanks!

This is the only thing I could find. Scroll down and it has the number for the US distributor. I checked my box and could not find anything on it. I only have a one page instruction sheet that did not have any sort of contact information as well. I bought mine used and maybe did not get the complete paperwork that comes with the motor. Here is the link:

Sorry to here about your motor. Did it have the fan? Which pinion? What head speed? Did it seem to be running hot?

Thanks for the info. No Fan, 24T pinion at 85% throttle using an Align ESC (Thought that was the one that was on fire) and HS around 2600-2700. It had been running flawlessly with more than 50 flights on it since November 2006.

Bummer Joe... something must have happened inside the motor or something. Were you running the Align ESC on high timing? THats what it needs.
I hope you can get it replaced... I have well ovr 100 flights on mine with no problems thus far.

Hmmm. I have the ESC on the stock settings. I have had over 50 flights on mine. No problems up until then. It was the Align ESC and when I saw the smoke, I initially thought it was the Align ESC. It was OK but the motor was smoking.

I ran mid timing on mine the first couple of flights but the motor got pretty hot... Andy at Align said for lower KV motors (100 or below) to run high timing and that dropped the temps. If you left it default that may have been what caused it. Not sure but possible I suppose.

I didn't have any problems with temps before. I'll remember that with my next motor.

I am getting a H-3025 10 -815kv Hyperion motor to replace the stock HDX motor - Bob, on the hobbywing pentium 60 ESC - what setting would you recommend with this motor - I have been running medium timing with the stock motor - should I up it to high??
Thanks
Sandy
One of our guys has burned 2 or 3 of these motors up
The specs are a tad light at 46A 60sec and 54A 10sec
But it does work ok for most people

DocJoe - The US warranty Rep for Hyperion is Empire Hobby. Their contact info is: EmpireHobby@aol.com. Or you can go through www.allerc.com and get in touch with them that way. I have used Empire Hobby to get my Hyperion ESC replaced twice out of my EX kit. It's been working great with the Hyperion -10 motor.

What exactly is the difference between the H and Z 3025? Which one is better for the lepton?
And btw guys, what pinion is best used with the 3025 motor for the lepton on 4S lipo? And what headspeed will be best(or highest) for lepton?

Get the Kv rating of your motor (They have them posted at www.allerc.com) and go here...
http://www.readyheli.com/Online_Headspeed_Calculator_s/81.htm
Then shoot for your target headspeed. :D
The Z is built for planks and the H was built for helis

Hi, as far as I know, the H version has a cooling fan, hence is more suitable for helicopters.
