Finally broke down and bought a new governor for my Raptor V2 with a hyper 50. To my surprise, it looks like the fan is already set up to recieve the magnets. Is this right? I wanted to ask before putting the magnets in because not sure if I could get them back out because the fit seems pretty tight. I am ready to epoxy the magnets in the fan but wanted to know if anybody else has done this in a fan ready to recieve magnets. Thanks for any replies!

Glue them in and you're done. Make sure that you have them installed with the correct magnetic polarity. One should be the reverse of the other.

Thanks Bob for the reply. I just thought I was going to have to drill them in the fan so I didn't expect to see the mounting holes already there. Thanks again

Is anybody up for my next question? When using the 7CHP radio and the PCM1024 8 channel reciever the channel 7 switch is the on and off which is a 3 position switch. But it is only turning on the GV-1 at idle up 2. Can I change it to Idle 1? I know this is not a very good radio and reciever for the governor but its all I'm working with right now and I have been told the GV-1 will work with this set up. Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Drill a small hole behind the magnet hole, this will keep an air bubble from forming and allowing better coverage on the epoxy. Also you only need one magnet, just put it the hole thats opposite the piston when its at TDC or as close as you can to that.

I thought one was a magnet and the other was not magnetic and was provided just for balance. Seems like if you only mount just one as BarracudaHockey suggests then you would have a balance problem.

Am I missing something.

Dont sweat it, that magnet, if its opposite the piston at TDC will actually improve the over all balance, a single cylender engine is out of balance to begin with.

Also its magnetic, you install one opposite polarity but as I said, all my helis only use one magnet and I dont have any vibration or fuel foaming problems.

Thanks guys. Got the GV working and love it! Before the GV, I would fly in normal mode and switch to idle 1 when doing aloop or inverted then switch it back because the motor wanted to over rev. Now I have to get used to staying in idle up 1. Its gonna be much better for me now as I am now learning inverted orientations. Can't wait to fly tomorrow!!
