I plan on starting my Fun-Key Hughes 500D paint scheme (it came with a nice grey primer in and out) with a canary yellow base, then some silver stripes or ribbons and some candy over that.
My question is how do you pros get the door and panel lines blacked in? I remember when I was a kid we used to slop some testors black over the lines and use solvent to wipe it off which would leave paint in the lines. Will the Tamiya rattle cans hold up to that?
Thanks,
Paul :glasses2:

It's not fuel proof and won't hold up.

I would use some pinstipe tape bought from the local hobby shop. Get some that's 1/16 and use it to mark out your lines for the doors. If your body we're prepainted you might have more options but they narrow down when the paint is already on.

Thanks Christopher,
I planned on the lines being the last thing before clear coat so I guess that idea is out. What about blacking the lines first then masking them and do the entire paint job with the mask on. Pull the mask then clear coat?

Never mind! I just found some 1/32 and 1/64 black pinstripe at www.leisure-time.com that will work fine before the clear coat. When you said 1/16 I got a little spooked, it seemed a bit wide

Sorry about that.... The 1/16 was the first thing that came to mind because I use it for body lines on bigger scalers, I wasn't thinking about yours being a 50 size scaler.

I hope the pinstripe idea works out for you. Post some pics if you get a chance.
