I just got my new DX7 and installed it in my 450 trex with STK superframe only to find i have glitching in all servos as soon as i try to spool it up.
I had a sonix 25A ESC with a just go fly 450th motor,Tower pro 9g servos,align RCE500x gyro.
This thing range checked fine and all seemed to be working fine until i tried to spool up and the servos started jumping.I pulled the main receiver and 2nd out of the bird and had them hanging away from all wires and CF and it still happened.
So i replaced the sonix esc with a 30A align ESC and same problem so then i replaced the motor with another 450th and still have the same problem.
I called horizon and they are stumped and want me to send in the radio system.
I figured before i did i would ask you guys and see if you have any ideas!
Thanks in advance for any replies.

post pictures showing component/wiring placement, rebind the reciever also.

Jermo,
Thanks for the reply.
I did try rebinding and nothing changed.I had everything mounted the way i wanted it with the main receiver in the bottom rear with the antennae facing forward and the 2 wires out the side of the frame not touching anything and the 2nd receiver mounted a couple of inches away from the main on the side of the frame with the antennae perpindicuar to the main receiver. When the glitching started i removed both receivers and had them hanging out of the bird away from everything and it still happened.
I am a noob to posting pics on here but will try to figure it out and post them.
I read somewhere on this forum about static eluctricity possibly contributing to radio problems.Could this be a problem?
Hey im new to helis with only about 10 flights on a CP PRO before buying this bird and attemting building it along with yours and Finless's priceless videos!
I bought the DX7 because it is supposed to be glicth free and i didnt want to worry about frequencies but i sure am frustrated now!It would help if i wasnt such a damn noob at this stuff.I question if its something i have done wrong or if there is a problem with the radio.I have tried to eliminate some of what i thought could be the problem by replacing the ESC and motor.I hope i can get this figured out or someone will be able to buy a heli real cheap very soon! :arggg:
I will gladly send you the bird and radio if you want to get it setup for me!!!!!! You name the price!! :D

From my understanding the 2.4 ghz is not suppose to glitch no matter how the receiver, ESC and servos are wired. Or how they are placed. There has been numerous posts that say it can't happen.
I would send the radio back to Horizon and let them check it out.

ibflyen,
What servos are you using?
Does the tail rotor servo jump?
Do the swash plate servos all jump in the same direction at the same time?
I will gladly send you the bird and radio if you want to get it setup for me!!!!!! You name the price!!
If that is what you would like, I would gladly do that for you but you will learn so much more if you figure it out.

I am using tower pro 9g servos and yes the tail servo jumps and all 3 swash servos jump in the same direction.I really wanted to do this myself so i could learn as i go so i could build more models in the future by i am so frustrated right now that i am about ready to let anyone try to figure this out.I dont know if its something i have done or just radio problems but either way its sure ticking me off!! :arggg:

I am not familiar with that servo. Is that also on your tail rotor?

sounds like the reciever is getting interference somehow over power or bad reciever. Where is your ESC mounted and how does the wire from the ESC to the reciever run? do your best to keep it AWAY FROM the motor and three motor leads. If you have a ferrite core (little dougnut looking thing used to filter out noise) wrap the cable from the esc to rx around that a few times (through the middle) and make sure it's on the end closest to the reciever. IF this works then we know 2 things: 1. it's noise through the power and 2. something isn't 100% with the reciever because it should filter some of that.
let us know.

Im not sure if you are familiar with the stk superframe but it has a CF tray that the battery rests on on the front of the frame.I have the esc on the bottom of this tray.
I have a ferrite ring on the rx wire from the esc and i have had it completely outside of the frame quite a distance from the motor wires with the same problem.
Danal,
I have tried the RX battery pack supplied with the radio with the same problem.

I've bought a few Tower Pro 9g servos and the ones I've bought seem to have a 50% failure rate out of the box and the 'good' ones seem to be half worn out, they have so much slop.
I'd try plugging some alternative servos into you receiver and trying that, I've had real big static problems with my E550, switching to the DX7 totally cured the problem, it really doesn't seem to suffer from any interference sourse you find on electric helis.

I don't know. At this point it sounds like a bad reciever or servo's. I have the DX7 with both an AR7000 and an AR6000 and I have ZERO issues regardless of where I put anything.
See if you can borrow some servo's and/or another reciever. I'm betting on the servo's.

Well today i replaced the servos with hitec servos and had the same problem but maybe not quite as bad but really hard to tell. The tail servo seems to be the most obvious so i replaced the align gyro with a JR gyro and nothing changed!
I have replaced the ESC,motor, servos, gyro and tried running the reciever with the RX battery pack and have hung the receiverss out of the bird as far away from the motor as i could get it and ran the power wire for the RX outside of the frame as far away from the motor and wires as i could get and still have the same problem so i guess its time to send in the TX and RX and have them checked out! :dontknow
Its hard enough trying to build one of these birds for the first time and then to have a brand new radio system give me problems is enough to make me pull my hair out!! :arggg:
My local hobby dealer says he cant get any DX7's from his suppliers as they are on backorder for at least a month so i hope Horizon Hobby can figure out what the problem is with this one or send me a new one!
I want to thank all you guys for your ideas!!!! You guys are what makes forums like this a great thing! If it wasnt for HeliFreaks i would have never been able to get one of these birds built and setup correctly!!
Finless and Jermo....you guys should be commended for your excellent videos that stepped me through the whole setup!! rstacy, thank you very much for taking the time and interest in personally helping me try to figure this out! I still might take you up on your offer!!!!!
I will let you guys know when i get the radio back and if i can get the bird in the air!! :)

hay you shuold just start at the bottom a AR6100 is only $49 and it it's just a bad RX you can fly while the AR7000 is being fixed. I have all four RX AR7000,AR6100, AR6000 and the BR6000 and they all work glitch free. I would sugjest trying the AR6100 before I sent my DX7 out for service it could be gone for weeks. and if it is making your servos jump it's not your TX it would have to be the RX. and if you put a new one in and it still does it you have some kind of power bleed some where.
check your soidered joints make sure you do not have a grounding goust. ( a pcs. of soier or wire grounding the RX out some where.
