Anyone know how to set the gear ratio on the CY ATG to 8.7 (Evo 50). Seems I can choose 8.5 or 8.8
Thanks!

You can go with 8.5 or 8.8.. You will need to set the headspeed with a tach. Use the gov mode on your radio to do that, If you dont have one use your atv.

Guess I need to buy a tach then :(

Thanks for the link, I was able to setup the ATG per those directions just fine, I could not however figure out how to set a gear ration of 8.7, so I guess I will use 8.8 and dial in the head speed using a tach.
Thanks.

I was looking for the instructions online. But I could not find them. Curtis is pretty straight forward with the stuff he designs. He makes it simple to setup. I am fairly sure it is designed to just set up the rpm like mentioned in the link I posted above.

Right...but I can't seem to set the correct gear ratio, so I assume if I use the 8.8 ratio the head speed will be off. Currently I have the ratio set to 8.8, Normal: 1650, IDLE 1: 1950.

What does it say in the instructions about setting up gear ratio?
Can you scan the instructions and post them.

Attached is a copy of the manual.
I have followed these directions:
Gear ratio setup (engine off)
You need to set the gear ratio so the governor can properly indicate your rotor RPM (Section D)
Move to full throttle and push the "P" button. This puts the governor in gear ratio set mode. The
light should start flashing. List below shows the flashes relative to gear ratios. Push the "H" or "L"
button to select your model gear ratio range.
Gear Ratio Lights
7.6 Fast flashing green
8.0, 8.2 1 green
8.45, 8.5 2 green
8.8, 9.0 1 red
9.3,9.5 2 red
10 Fast flashing red
Note: The ATG can be used for gear ratios out of this range. But RPM lights will not correlate properly.

I would choose the 8.8,9.0 range for 8.7.
Curtis has designed it for gear ratio ranges and not one specific gear ratio.
The difference between 8.7 actual gear ratio and 8.8 set on the ATG will be minimum. Maybe 10 or so rpm difference in what the chart states for setup.
The 1 red light RPM is the one I would choose. Then set the rpm according to the instructions .

DavidH..that is exactly what I have set, 8.8
I was not sure how far off the rpm would be.
Thanks for the help!

Like I said above. With the actual gear ratio 8.7 and the ATG set to 8.8. There is going to be very little rpm difference between the settings for 8.8 and the actual 8.7 gear ratio. For example with the gear ratio 8.8 on the ATG and the rpms set for 1900 rpm setting. The actual rpms may be 1890 or 1910 somewhere in that range. It is not going to be a noticeable difference.
