Is a header tank required for inverted flight? I mean the stock tank has a weight in it. Also if a header tank is a good idea please show a link to a nice kit and how do you run the hoses?

I have a Raptor .30 V2 by the way

Also does anyone know if the JR DS537 servos can be run at 6v?

They only run .23 and like 43oz torque at 4.8v so I was going to run a 6v pack.

No, it's not required for inverted flight. A header tank is intended to keep fuel at a consistent level relative to the height of the carburator. This makes the carb mixture stay more consistant as the level of the main tank drops. Otherwise, as fuel level drops, mixture tends to lean out.

As far as a 6v pack, be careful. A fully charged 6v pack puts out significantly more than 6 volts, which will fry your gyro. I believe it's possible to use 6v for everything but your gyro and t/r servo, but have never tried it. You have to get some sort of voltage regulator that steps it down to power the gyro.

Hope this helps,

Mike

There's another benefit of the header tank. Without one, the main tank's clunk will sometimes pick up air, causing a momentary lean mixture, (engine speeds up). A header tank reduces the likelihood of that happening.

On the tubing: leave the pressure line where it is; run the output line from the main tank to the input port on the header tank; run the output side of the header tank to the carburetor.

Another benifit is that if helps with foam. With vibrations your fuel can foam a bit. The header tank has no air or very little air in it so it tends not to foam.

The gyro will run fine at 6V but the tail servo probably will not.
