how to:
go get a pack of bbq sticks, you'll need alot.
get yourself some cheapo cotten (or w/e) kite strings.
get yourself a bottle of CA.
and ur set.
first, take 3 bbq sticks, tie them up so they are one long stick, and drop couple drops of CA onto the string, let it set, make three more.
when all the CA set, make 2 sets of double sticks from these 4 sticks, to make them strong. (ie. "-" is one stick, you should have 4x"---". tie 2 of these side by side; ===, and make 2 of these from the 4 sticks) tie them up, few drops of CA. let settle.
now make a X with them. tie them up, few drops of CA.
make a square with 4 sticks on teh outside of the 'X' , tie, CA.
make 4 double sticks for the legs. 4x "=". tie them up to the points of the "X". the angle depends on the length of your bbq sticks and your blade length. around 90~110 degree will be good. tie them, few drops of CA.
now this part is hard to explain, (everything is). take one stick, attach it from the middle of the leg to th middle of the square around the 'X'. make sure they don't interfer with the blades.
attach ping pong balls on the end of the legs, could use a drop of CA,
please refer to picture, it should be more clear, i only drew on of the legs as it'll get too messy and confusing.
NOTE: this will not work with stock transmitter, some modification may require.

I saw your post about this awhile back, and I still think it's really well done!
One other thing: MAN you attach that setup quickly! Did you use velcro straps? Twist ties?
Nice job. :D

I never recall posting about this though :?: :?: weird.
Because it is an X, just attach them to the skids, nothing needed, snuggle.

It was in a thread about setting up a Blade for 3D flying...

:lolol
I'm still struggling with right side up hovering, so I'm just impressed that you can control the little bugger that well! (you hover inverted better than I hover upright)

ingenious trg gear :noteworthy
As others have said, it should be marketable - why not patent it, then approach e-flight and others to see if they are interested!

excellent!! kind of looks like something from war of the worlds. very cool indeed. gotta make one of those (not that i'm ready for inverted) but i can see from the video it works very well. good job.

not likely, first, it's very 'unappealing', or ugly, with all the strings and CA and everything. secondly, it won't work with stock transmitter, thirdly, it depends on ur blade size adn the heli will definitely get heavier, lastly, it is not 'crash prove', it's suppose to only allow you to inverted from the start and land from teh start. it can't handle that hard a landing either.
thx guys anyways.

I didn't know it was you that came up with this mod. I've seen you over on RCU, and I have seen this video... that's really cool. Congrats on the nifty idea!
Have you ever had your helicopter come loose with a rough landing? I was just wondering because you said just slip them over the skids.
Also I was wondering why the stock Tx wont work. I read on your you tube vid that you said
"yes, the blade will hover inverted with the stock transmitter"
and
"no, it will not work with stock transmitter"
I am a little confused, and I am wondering if it wont work with the stock Tx... why? As long as you go into idle up mode it should work, right?
I don't know if you would be willing, but I'd really like to see some pics of the skids and how the bbq sticks mesh, and maybe a few other photos.
Great idea to learn inverted hover. My hat is off to ya ;)

no, i have not had it come loose in a rough landing, but rough landings are really not that great and i'd have to take it very slowly but surely. once you can hover inverted, you open a door to more tricks, (ie. just flipping inverted to one side and back upright the other continuously just seems cool to me).
yes, the blade can hover inverted with a stock tx, that being you flip the idle up switch in a hover or while in flight. if you look into ur manual, you'll see that the pitch curve in idle up mode is -10 ~ +10. so you can fly both upright and inverted. however, when ur spooling upside down, you don't want +ve pitch as it'll pull you down to the ground before you can switch to idle up. and that'll basically kill the purpose of it as you can't really shut it down fast enough if you screwed up to land it on the gear in one piece.
