Took my BCX2 out for a lovely afternoon of flying. Winds calm to maybe 4 kts. No problems flying then at about 35-40 feet up and maybe 60 feet away, everything just quit. A guy at my LHS brought in a Spektrum DX7 that he uses with his T-Rex 450 that had also done the same thing. Anybody else hearing of these kind of problems with the Spread Spectum technology?

I heard that before that the spectrums have a short range, I have a Cx2 that I probably only got about 25 feet or so away from me without any problems and I use the Dx6 with my T rex but I havent really pushed the distance envelope with that yet. :dontknow

Rex-Flyer,
How far have you been flying the T-Rex with the DX6? I've been looking at a DX7 for my Rex and am contemplating waiting for the Futaba 6 channel 2.4 TX.

I havent really tried to go too far out with my t-rex yet Im still tuning it. I m also getting the DX7 here soon but thats not going to make a difference with the range issue I would think with the DX7 you would still have limited range

For what its worth I have gotten at least 100 feet of indoor range with CX-2, and with DX-6, range till 450SE is too far to see properly..250 feet? For helis I don't see a range issue.

Well then your the first I heard say you can go that far so I guess you can, maybe the original complaint about the range with the Dx's came from an airplane guy??

you should have no problem getting to 500 feet of range. Try rebinding the receiver to the dx7 and then do a range check with the bind button held down while checking, you should be able to have full control at 50 feet with the bind button held down. Holding the bind button down reduces the power output of the radio so you can make sure it will work at the longer ranges.
