Hi Guys,

Been away for some time. Hope you're all ready for the flying season.

I fly an Ion-X on 10S-8000 / 32-3 / HV110
and intend to buy the T-600.

On the latter, should I go 10S (2x 5S) and use these packs on my Ion too
or go the regular 6S route (Neu 1515/2.5D etc) and use those as 12S on the Ion?

I am sure that pack size (bulkiness) might be a factor too on the Ion...

Thanks for any help,

MHN

MHN,

I fly both heli's with 10s (2x5s1p 3700 evo20's). Don't bother with 6s on the T600 and these packs (TP or FP 4900's) will not fit under your Ion canopy either. Like the Razor, these 50 sized heli's really need 10s to perform and get decent runtimes. The Ion flys very nicely on 2 packs for 5-7 min, or 10-12 min if your use 4 of them (2 each in parallel = 7400 pack). See my signature below for some of my set-up details.

Cheers,

Hi Tom C,

Thanks for the help and very useful information.
I also noticed the availability of a Flight Power EVO 3700 10S1p (long pack).
I am considering fitting the T-600 with the Rotorworkz sideframes, which if not mistaken, can accomodate the long pack between the lower sideframes.
If my latter deduction is correct, would this long pack fit on either side of the Ion-X without disrupting lateral weight distrubution or otherwise canopy fitment?

Thanks,
MHN

MHM,

I'd stay away from the 10s long packs and stick with 5s packs wired in series (or 2 in parallel on each side of the Ion). Much more flexable for other helis as well. Currently, there are very few 50 sized helis that can accomodate these long packs. For example, the Razor cannot. I think you would really like flying your ion on a much lighter 2x5s1p 3700 evo20 setup.

Cheers,

Tom C

You bet. Been delaying that moment way too long. These 8000+ are real bricks.
Thanks again for all the advice.

I was thinking the same thing but one of the othe reasons why I personally would like the 2 5s packs is because if I have a horrific crash, then I might be able to salvage 1 of the 5s packs instead of irrepairably damaging 1 big 400 dollar lipo.

The reputable Li-Po brands will let you replace a crashed pack at 50% off so it is actually a 200.00 pack if you crash damage it. I know FlightPower has this warranty, we have replaced a good many crashed packs. All we ask for is a picture, not necessary to send damaged packs in the mail.

Willl,

I was not aware of this FP crash warranty/policy. I recently destroyed a 5s1p 3700 evo20 pack in a hard crash on my Trex600 at a local fun-fly. No pics, but lots of witnesse's. This pack was put in a salt water bath for 24 hrs and then buried.

I just went out and bought another couple of 5s packs from our local dealer (modelflight). If there is any way I could get a 50% discount, I would have ordered another pack!

Is there anyway I can still do this? Esp since I'm about to order another 2 5s packs. If I can do this and get a 50% discount on one of these packs, I'll be pretty happy. Otherwise, I may just go out and try a couple of 5s TP 3850 packs.

Cheers,

Tom C
