View Full Version : Hurrican 50 Build - Seasaw installation question...

Ran into my first question with the build with the Seesaw Arm installation. I found 2 issues with this installation:
1. When the 2 Seesaw shaft bolts are installed until the shoulder seats up against the main rotor hub, the threaded sections stick through so far that the rotor hub assembly will not fit over the main shaft.
2. Also, when the Seesaw shaft bolts are tightened down until the shoulder seats against the main rotor hub, there is excessive binding of the seesaw.
It seems to me like the shoulder of these Seesaw Shaft Bolts should be longer to prevent both of these issues from happening.
Bottom line is, where do I go from here to assemble this correctly?
In the next step there are 2 3x5x2 spacers for the seesaw arms. Looks like I could possibly use 2 more of these spacers for the Seesaw Shaft Bolts. Would this work - and are there any spare 3x5x2 spacers in the kit???

Rockohaulic,
It sounds like you are trying to put the jesus bolt into the lower hole of the main shaft, it goes in the upper hole as noted in the manual on page 29, "pass the socket head bolt (SP) thru the top hole"
Also see the note on page 28 about using the white .3mm nylon spacer beneath the shank bolt head on the outside of the seesaw assembly to take up any play.

Yep - saw the note on the nylon spacer. Are those the spacers found in the non-ccpm bags?
Sounds like maybe one of those under the head, and a 1mm spacer at the threads should do the trick. Since the head of the seesaw bolt will be raised slightly, will it interfere wth the seesaw lever at that point?
I'll check tonight...........
Thanks
PS: I'm showing off the assembled frame to one of the guys at the field who showed interest yesterday. One of the other guys was flying with the RJX Carbon Fiber blades on his Raptor, and I mentioned I was building the Hurrican. I'll be seeing him at lunch............

Showed off my Hurrican Frame to some of the guys at lunch. They were impressed.
They really liked the stacked frame build and the inherent stiffness of this design. Also liked the heavy duty swash, and couldn't get over the nice sized clutch bell!
On the clutch/clutch bell design we agreed on the following: the Hurrican's clutch isn't designed too big, it is designed right and the Raptor clutch is too small for the job.
Either way it is a huge improvement. Can't wait to show them that all metal tail..................

If I hear one more thing about that metal tail. Well I guess I might have to order one :arggg:

Ok tell you what. I have a set of snapon sockets that I do not use. Next time I see my dealer I will sell them to him and use the money for the tail case :arggg:

chase,
You should be able to buy three tail cases for what a set of Snap ON sockets go for. :wow2:

Your right. I just bought a set of 6 point half inch drive impact sockets and it ran me over 400 bucks. :arggg: But like my heli's I take great pride in my tools. You should see the massive tool box I recently bought. I could of bought all of rjx's helis set up just like mine and enough parts for all of them. The wife wasnt to happy with that purchase, but she says it is a pretty box.
