I'm happy but wary. I have two ICE2 HV120's, Two ICE Lite 100's, One ICE 75, and two Phoenix 60 (from 3.5 years ago). All are working fine. I'm just wary, but I'm not afraid of them.

Happy CC owner here...
-ICE 50 Lite (450Pro)... 2 years, 600+ flights and counting...
-ICE80HV (recalled) 260 trouble free flights... though it popped, CC provided me with top notch service and replaced it within about a month and a half. Yes, it was a bit of a PITA to get through to them, but I did end up getting through... and they treated me with the utmost respect.
BTW... No collateral damage to my heli other than some charring which cleaned up... even the canopy survived.
Now... ICE2 80 HV... all good, about 15 flights so far and will be another 3 in about an hour or so.
Oh... almost forgot. Have a few CC ESC's in RC cars as well.

Looks like the ESC that burned was the older version that was recalled, right? What do you think happened and under what circumstances did the ESC ultimately fail?

Yes it was a recalled version....
Circumstances were... 5 degrees Fahrenheit, 2 ft of snow, and I have a reeeally low soft start, motor start power and HS speed change settings.
I did a long flight with low HS, and when I swapped packs and started spooling up it popped.
I think it was a combination of the fact that I was running with wires that were too long for a while (before I got the cap pack), this may have damaged the caps initially... I suppose the cold temp and a sudden warming, then cooling may have further damaged something... that coupled with the fact that the board did have that issue.
And one more... when I was installing the replacement, I noticed that one of the bullets (on the motor) had signs of arcing. The bullet was loose... and it was cold, so this means it was looser than normal. I think this is what may have triggered the failure.
The ironic part is what I was waiting on an excuse to send it in.... and I got my excuse LOL.

I did a long flight with low HS, and when I swapped packs and started spooling up it popped. I wonder if long and sustained low HS made the ESC overheat?

Well... I spent all of $4.74 for shipping... :wow2:
I'm sure it was a combo of the recall, the arcing, the sustained low RPM flights and the 150+ flights with too much wire.

I have a 2 years old Ice 80HV. It has served me for over 300 flights on a 12s T-Rex 600. Never a glitch. I got a mail from CC that I should send it in but I didnt.
I also have an Ice 75 in my T-Rex 500. That also works very well.
So this is 2 more CC's that works:thumbup:

Very happy with a modest flybarred 8S 600 setup with the ICE100.
I was going to use it for an SK720 setup but decided to go 12S with that one and was given a HW70HV simply because I can't afford a Castle HV ESC.
My buddy has exactly the same 8S heli, same Castle ESC and he's very happy with his.
We're still on the previous firmware, everything's good :)

Happy ICE 100 user here :peace
However I would change the logging to overwrite the oldest logs rather than fill the memory and not loggin any more until erased.

Agree. That would also work better for me.
