Been flying my Razor with a 401/9254 combo and it works great other than I get occasional tail blowouts when turning the heli while in inverted backwards flight. It seems to be more prevalent during windy conditions. Question is do I need to step up the gryo? Anyone else having this with the 401 on the Razor?
Thanks
Peter

Have you adjusted the tail pushrod to get a hands off no yaw hover in non-avcs mode ???

Yes,
Mechanical set up is spot on, Gain is 80%. ATV 100% AFR 120% Limit pot 100. This set up worked flawless on the Ion, maybe a different story with the Razor. From what I see most are using the 611 or the Logictech 6100,

misskimo has mentioned you need to be running 2200 on the head for the tail to hold on the Razor. I had to go to 90 on the gain to get mine to hold and was over 2200 HS.

You are just out-flying a 401.Those are some pretty demanding conditions. Time to get a better gyro. The tail holds fine at any speed on mine with a 611.

My razor runs around 1850 to 1900 rpm h/s and is great to fly, I'm using a 611

I agree! 611 on my Razor is amazing through anything at any speed - hurricanes, funnels, piroflips, piro funnels etc. The 401 is a good beginner gyro but as you progress into the advanced moves you must also upgrade your equipment to handle the extra demand. When I used to have the 401 I also noticed the tail blowing out during reverse circuits at high speeds and windy conditions. Once I got the 611, the tail never blew out anymore. Aussieheliguy, you said your running your heli around 1850-1900...does this put undo stress on your esc? and also, this is your normal mode and not your idle up mode right? I'm running 1,900 normal and 2,200 in idle up mode.
Best of Luck,
Bub

Bub, the speedy doesn't get hot at all. I do add a few points of throttle for idle 1 but I haven't tached it in idle up, just seems a little faster. I set it up with CC's and Clints instructions in mind..For my ability, 1800 to 1900 is great and I get a little longer run time. I have to say I enjoy flying this one far more than E Raptor, it's just so locked in, flying around...

Aussieheliguy,
I totally agree with you. The bird is on rails and is amazing. I feel like the bird is flying itself half the time. I would almost hazard to say its smoother and more precise than my Stratus. I know I'm going to get hate mail for this....please don't kill me!

The Logictech 6100 IMHO is as good if not better as everyone says it is. It is definetely better than my 601, I can't compare it to the 611 as I have not flown one. Set up is very straight forward, it only took about three flights to get it dialed in really close. With this gyro on the Razor it is one sweet machine, flys very precise and predictable. Only thing lacking on this heli now is a couple of more batteries so I can fly it without waiting for a charge!

Hey Bub, I tried that last weekend, lifted off, a little fwd and just let it go for about 100 metres, damn thing would've kept going too, straight and level, no inputs req.....

I know i know! Its really real! The bird basically feels like the sim with no wind its totally a wild experience. I'm personally keeping my gas ships but I finally understand why some guys only fly electric....its pure its pure! I love it!
