Ok, here is what i have been able to find. This is my first electric so i am looking for a little bit of guidance from those who already are using 5s leptons or have good knowledge of electric setups.

1. Eheliflyer is using a 19t pinion on a 15-10 (1080 U/min/V) kora motor running 75% and 80% flat line curves for 3000 and 3150rpm. He says this combo is powerful, runs cool - but is it the best option?

2. Adrian from revco rc is make 18t pinion especially for 5s kora users. I'm assuming its for the 15-12 (920 U/min/V) [Readyheli says for 2-4 cells - i believe manual says its ok for 5 cells]. On 18t it would have a HS of 2933, 19t HS of 3096RPM - maybe it is for the 15-10

3.Next is the 15-14 (790 U/min/V). Using the Hirobo pinion we could have an rpm of 3358. Using a 22t pinion the HS would be 3078. This is the first motor readyheli rates at 5 cells.

4.Next would be 15-16 690 U/min/V. Using the Hirobo pinion we would have a HS of 3178 RPM. This would be the slowest spinning motor of the series (this would be good for longevity of the motor??) - but there is no room to adjust headspeed with aftermarket pinions.

Ok, so there are basically the kora options as i see it. Which line of thinking is going to work best? What are you guys aiming for with your choices. Something that has a flat 100% curve - or something that runs around 80% and run it on a governor to have power in reserve? The thing is with these motors that i know (or think i know) - torque and speed are linear. So - motor running at max rpm has max torque and power i.e. flat line 100% will be best - and a governor isn't needed.

I've just been looking over the forums and there isn't a lot of information on 5s combo's (motor and pinion). Hopefully we can have a thread where we can get the correct line of thinking... Thanks for your help

p.s. Will the Align 80amp esc run these motors?

The manual also states that the max rpm is 15,000. On 5S the theoretical rpms are:

15-10: 19980 rpm
15-12: 17020
15-14: 14615
15-16: 12765

I'm sure these are not exact and will be slightly less under load, but I would say either the 15-12 or 15-14 and adjust the gearing. I don't know if it would make a huge difference. Given the pinion availability (down to 18), if you're thinking you may want to try 4S as well, I'd go with the 15-12. That's what I have though, so maybe I'm biased.

Governor % on Jazz means nothing. I mean the HS you got will have no relation with %. You can't use it to compare. I can tell you the 15-12 is perfect with 2400 rpm with the 20T and 4S. It means 3000 with 5 S and same pinion. With 5S and the new 18T you will have 2700. So i think the 15-12 is right where you need to be if you want around 3000 RPM on 5S. It's the good motor to use 4S and 5S batt. For someone that want to use 3S to 4S the 15-10 could be a better choice.
