Ok I had done this before but I am doing it again as a favor to RCHover!

When I finished my SE V2 I "had" to have gorilla gear and the programmable paddles for it and since Jeremy at RCHover was nice enough to send me a set I felt it was worth me doing a little review of them.

I WONT own a Trex without these PERIOD and this is no advertisement! I have to run this stuff on me SE's.....

Here is the review video:
Finless Review: Gorilla Gear and Programmable paddles.
2007 Review of Gorilla Gear and Programmable paddles I LVOE THESE! (30 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/other&filename=gorillagear.wmv)

This is the review I did 6 months ago:

I have been thinking about getting a set of GG GEAR ( I've only broke two sets of stock gear) then I watched your vid.
Just finished ordering a complete set of GG (in neon yellow fo course).
Great job on the vid , and pointing out the shock absorbing qualites of GG.

HONESTLY... after flying these since they came out I gotta say..... I would NOT fly a Trex without the gear and paddles....

Definately great landing gear and paddles. My gear has been through hell and keeps coming back for more. I still fly the pro-grammable paddles with no weights, but I'll cut down the weights and give them a try.

I knew it!! Of course after I posted how much I like them I destroyed them today in a crash. I tore the leading edge up really bad with a chicken dance on concrete :arggg: I have my old Align paddles still so I guess I'll switch back for now and remind myself about the difference between these paddles

At least the gorilla gear survived yet another horrible wreck :D

Bummer... Well I guess nothing can withstand spinning on concrete!
For stick paddles move the weights in about 1/2 way and it will be close to what you were use to.

Well I was installing the stock landing gear on my SE and apon sliding on the gear onto the tubes..one side was very tight so as I twisted and snapped 1 of the skids down by the tube opening....

So much for the stock gear...

Gorilla Gear to the rescue... :) Is the Orange gear on thier site actually match the neon yellow paddles? The option on the site for the Gear says Orange Green and black only....I am assumng the orange is the Neon yellow?

After switching back to my Align paddles yesterday I was definately reminded about how much I like the faster roll rate. I guess these will work for now, but my next order from RCHover will definately have a new set of paddles in it.... make that 2, I think I'll try them on my Mini Titan too. Now where is the mini Titan gorilla gear to replace these ugly skids?!?

Can anyone reccomend an on-line source for Gorilla Gear other than RC Hover?

Ok, quick question: On RCHover's site I'm confused about the "style" selection. Does "1 Tall" or "1 Short" mean one "set" of two struts or does it mean just one strut? I saw where it said that 2 of either or 1 of each was an extra $14. Just curious as I was very impressed with Finless' vid and really want the whole set (paddles and tail blades too) but I probably don't need an extra set of landing gear since I only have one TRex at the moment.

Thanks

It means one set of 2 struts. The tall gear are the same height as the Align gear and the short gear makes the heli sit lower than stock. Some people mix the 2 with a short in front and tall in the rear to make the heli sit at an angle. This puts the tail higher so you can land in grass with more clearance.

Cool, thanks. I shall order them right away. I need them now that I broke the right side of my stock struts yesterday night after I had written my previous post. :DOH

Is gorilla gear available for t-rex 600 also? Couldn't find any. Anyway, i would use them on Hurricane 550.

No they are not... In fact I dont think they will ever be as they would be to flexible for this sized heli and to make them thick enough to support the weight they would be too heavy. At least with the current material that is used...

Any word on those tail blades?

Finless

They work but a little too flexible for my liking. They would be great for people learning and still chopping up grass (or dirt) on landings... They dont break easily that is for sure!

I got the paddles after watching your review - thanks!

The question I have is when you put the weight in the paddle, how do you get it to stick in the paddle? Is it merely using a tool to put pressure on it or is there something else? I know you use a paper clip to pop them out but wasn't sure if it was just pressure to keep them in. If you just slide them in they fall out, so I'm assuming there's more to it.

Thanks!

nope... they stay in by centrifugal force and thats it. DOnt worry they wont come out on you.
