Okay! I got my first few break in flights in the Faifa. It was a thing of beauty! I am running a Scorpion 4035-100, ICE 120 HV, Beast, a Hercules bec with a 2s 2P TP receiver pack. When I am in normal mode, I am running around 1750 head speed, the machine is quiet! with a small buzzing noise from the tail. Ohh, I am using 95mm tail blades. When I go into idle up for the first time on my third flight, the tail noise is noticeably louder! much more noise. When I stop the machine, there is no warmth to the tail, the whole movement of the tail gears is smooth and not notchy. Any Ideas where that is comming from?? Thanks!! Ohh.. I tached it at 1900 at Idle up.

Could have an out of balance tail rotor.
Try balancing the hub with tail blades attached (if you haven't already) and give it another go.

If you run the heli up on the bench with only the tail blades on (tail pushrod disconnected), what happens? I found a problem with one of the Faifas I just set up with a crook tail. Looks like perhaps one or both of the radial bearings in one grip are faulty. At higher speeds, it vibrates HEAPS. 1750 headspeed and it was ok. 1950 and it felt like it was going to destroy the tail!

Wow. That sounds exactly like what I have. The noise really shows up when I go to Idle up. Not in normal. I will take the tail apart and see if any of the bearings are notchy. Thanks!

Just an update for you......
John (Mercuriell) sent me a new tail hub/grip assembly to try and it's perfect :-) I'm now getting max vibes of ~190 on the bench with the tail blades mounted.
Putting the 2 units side by side before I mounted the replacement one, I found a considerable difference in the amount of lateral play in the grips of the original unit. The new unit is nice and 'snug', for want of a better term. The old one is as loose as a 2 dollar hooker by comparison!
