Hello everyone, I know you can shed some light for me. I have a Hawk sport with os .32 and carbon blades, I have been doing loops, rolls, and now trying some inverted as well. I know it's only a 30 size but I want to prepare for my R.50 thats comming for X-mas, yes some one spilled. Any way my question is for my curves in 3D mode. I only have a 642 radio so it only has 3 curves to set up and I do plan to get an 8103 next. Now I have "in normal mode" my pitch set to 6 degrees at mid stick which I hover at, then at full pitch it's +9 at low stick it's --5. In 3D mode mid stick is still 6 and fullstick is+ 9 low stick is -- 9. Should my mid stick be 0 when in 3D mode ?? Or is this ok for my heli. ? Throttle at mid stick on either mode is %50. In 3D %100 at each end of the stick. Thank you in advance

Yeah, for 3D you definitlely want 0 at mid stick. +-9 on top and bottom sounds about right for the hawk.

Thank you, so if I am hoovering and I flip the switch to go into 3D I can expect to add some stick to keep it from dropping right? As I have it now when I flip my switch and it stays put. This is why I asked this on here because when in 3D there seems to me to be an inbalance in the pitch curve. Thanx for the info again.. Alan

When you transition to 3D setup you want all your modes to have 0 degrees at mid stick, or at least the same picth at mid stick. Where the curves usually differ the most is at the quarters, and possibly at the top stick and low stick positions.
When your curves overlap with a good setup the heli does not climb or sink between modes (other than hold :) )

Actually the way Dr Clintstone has helped me with mine is this.
Set all your curves the same so it feels the same all the time, my Normal curve is exactly the same as my Idle 1 & 2 and I just add 1 degree of pitch for my Hold.
Of course throtle curves are different and MAKE SURE you are in Idle up before going inverted, pretty scary when you dont.
I hover at 3/4 stick and I have gotten use to it pretty quickly, I actually enjoy the way it feels.
I have a Raptor 50 with the CCPM upgrade anda Hyper 50. It does real well and I just bought my first big bird Fury Extreme ... Still not a big 3D flyer but I'm working for that ..

I don't want to sound stupid here but I want to understand this completely. Right now I hoover at mid stick which is 6 degrees. When I go into 3D mode the heli has the same mid stick. If I change this to 0 degrees at mid stick then for sure the heli will fall. So should I change both mid stick cures so I hoover at 3/4 stick making both curves 0 at mid stick ?? I will of course have to change my throttle curve so as not to over speed the rotor correct ? Thanx again..Alan

Remember, I only have 3 cure adjustments.

Change both the normal and idle up curve to -9 0 +9 and adjust the throttle curve as necessary to obtain your desired headspeed. You dont want the heli jumping when you switch modes, so make them the same. Set you throttle hold curve the same, but add a bit more positive pitch at the top if you can.

Hoovering at mid stick will no longer be the case amd I right ?? I just went over me book for the hawk and it says the same you guys are telling me. I never looked at the book since I assembled it and it was an arf any way that was 6 months ago. Alan

Thats right, you will now be hovering around 3/4 stick in both normal and idle up.

Clay is right on the money just like all the other hot 3D flyers, all your curves should be the same so dont worry about having limited options.
Have your idle up curve on the thortle look like a V full down 100% / Full up 100% mid stick 50% or what ever is needed for a good head speed.
When you flip to idle up there should be no change in the heli at all, check this on the bench and make sure nothing moves at mid stick when you flip the switch.
Are you by chance coming to the Fun Fly at Mac Hodges ?? If so there are a ton of folks that will jump right in and help ya out, as a matter of fact since I started flying I havent found anyone that wont help !
