My Bergen EB has a tail wag that I have not been able to get rid of. The tail will move left and right up to 3/4-1 inch while in a hover.

Does anyone have any suggestions on fixing this? Setup is as follows,
JR 8311 digital servos, 1 JR811 DS,1 401 and S9254 for the tail, 9cap.

Thanks.
Kyle

What does the engine sound like when it happens? Is it a constant purr, or do you hear the engine burp a little each time?

Kyle -

Brady is on the right track. We look for generally a 1 3/8 out on both carb needles and a transition from a 4 stroke to 2 stroke "purr" at lift off.

You are welcome to come out to the field Sat or Sun and I will help you.

Have you tried the Zeal gyro tape from Mr. Bergen? It works wonders on gyros.

Thanks for the replies. The engine sounds smooth without any rich popping or lean high end pitches. It is a constant left-right-left-right movement. I will get a video tomorrow and show you guys. It will start the instant the heli leaves the ground and continue through the entire hover, the gyro is mounted with that green gel stuff.

Thanks for the invite Ron, but I have a certain DVD/video to complete this weekend. :D

Are you using the gyro page in your radio, and did you ACTIVATE the page? It is INH by default.....

Along with proper tuning, I found the Zeal tape to be very helpful.

A certain DVD eh? Hmmm I wonder if a Bergen Turbine might be in that DVD :smokin:

Give me a jingle later then if you want , sounds like some hunting for some reason or as Chris alluded to, the settings may have gotten knocked around.

Yep, you're a video star.

"Hunting" is the word I was looking for, thanks, that is exactly what it seems is happening.

Since it was doing great when last I saw it then I would take a closer look at the drive train to make sure the boom has not moved, the main gear engages the tail transmission solidly, the arrow drive is NOT slipping under a collet then look at the freeness of movement of the tail servo, rod and bellcrank to the rotor as well as components of the tail rotor itself. I don;t remember if that had a 9254 or 9253 servo on it.

Any way - ring me up if you need to chat

9254 in the tail. I'll make sure everything is tight. I'm sure it's just an adjustment on the gyro itself or the radio setup, but I've never adjusted one.
