Hi Eric
We use 8,4V(HV) on the cyclic servos and a step down for tail servo. On the 6HV I use 2s lipo unregulated on the cyclic and a step down for the tail. I am very happy with the 7HV and the 6HV right now. Right before the Pitchbrother Smackdown 2011 we changed the cyclic servos to the new Futaba BLS HV servos.

I'm telling you guys, the Torq 9188 tail servo is one of the greatest additions to any helicopter in my history. No regulator, TONS of speed and torque, and damn it looks nice!!! I have it all powered off a WR S-BEC on 8.4V (Torq cyclics too). I wouldn't hesitate to looking into getting one, even if it's the only Torq servo you use. It's absolutely phenominal. :thumbup:

Thanks for the info Martin.
Hope to see you @ the masters or the afterparty maybe :)

Mine will be as follows :

* 7HV FBL
* Stock motor
* Stock blades
* Hobbywing 120A HV ESC
* BeastX or CGY 750
* CC BEC Pro with extra reciever pack
* Savox 1257 on cyclic
* Savox 1290 MG on tail
* KBDD 104 t/r blades
* Futaba SBUS reciever R6203SB

For batteries I will use Turnigy's.

And just as Ah Clem eagerly awaiting the release of this beast :peace

Grtz,
Dirk

That is what I was planning on running except with a V-Bar. I recently changed my mind and hope that this works out for me.

7HV FBL
Stock motor, main blades
CC Ice 160HV
Mikado V Bar Full Size 5.1
Savox SC-1267HV Cyclic
Torq 9188 Tail
2s unregulated rx
DSMX sats
Turnigy Main packs
Can't wait for it to come already.:bacon

What battery connections are people going with? Sorry I know I could search what people use in Trex 700's, but I have limited time on the net here and have to pay $1 for ten minutes :roll:

I use 5,5mm bullets with thick housing and 10awg cabling, but 6mm thin housing should also work.

Staying with my deans on the battery, but the main connector where the series "adapter" meets the ESC will be PRC6 (basically EC6) or 5.5 bullets if the PRC6 are too stiff.

May change to EC5 on all my packs some day.

I'd suggest using EC5s.

You're running a risk with deans on this setup, you get very high amp draws on this heli, check deans rating and you'll see 140ish amps is around 3 times the dean spec, it's not parallel mounting but series so you double the voltage output not halving the amp pr battery ;)

I have seen it work fine in person with a Scorpion HKIII and Jive on an Aurora E90 so I am not too worried ;).

Also same owners Trex 550 pulls crazy watts/amps with just 1 battery on deans just fine.

It's not, if it's been a 22v setup it would be split, but the way you wire it on cable on each battery go to the esc hence 140a ;)

+1. Since it's a series connection, the full amperage must pass through the entire circuit. Only if the packs were in parallel would the amperage be halved.

Yeah that was my mistake, don't know what I was thinking :).

+2 for EC5 connectors. Really liking mine.

I saw a model at a local FF event who used bullets of 5mm and 6mm to make it easy to not get the connections wrong on his 700e. I thought it was a cool idea.

Ok so I decided to try it out, I changed all 12 of my 3300's to EC5. I REALLY like them!

Much easier to connect (straight), much easier to solder, and now I can charge without having to put on/pull off the deans caps on the 6 x Deans parallel cable!

Here's my set up:

7HV FBL
Stock motor - Stock blades
Kontronik- Jive 120 HV
Mikado V Bar Full Size 5.1 Pro
JR DS8917's Swash
Outrage Torq 9188 on tail
KBDD 104mm tail blades
Pulse RC 45C 6S 5000 x2
CYB 690mm main blades (on the way)

Really liking this thing, it's very smooth and my first 700 sized heli, my Atom 500 flies big but this one flies HUGE. :bacon

Beautiful pics! I debated over the K120HV long and hard. It sure is simple compared to external BEC, separate rx, and phase sensor. I ran that setup on the 6HV, except with K80HV.

Who is using the BEC from jive 120HV without any extra batteries? Would it work?

myrseth

With out extra buffer you dont got enough amps, seen 90s go down in flames earlier because they didnt have buffer battery on ;)

Just dont risk it.

I haven't seen any problems with others I know but I don't know it all.

Myrseth, can you explain and perhaps tell me how to do what you recommending.

I dont run kontronik but Hybriden does, when he got time I am sure he will comment on this.

I know he has an extra battery as buffer. It is the recommended configuration from Kontronik ;)

Have a look at this: http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=305447

And kontronik themselves advice doing a 30 second load test before flight and mount a redundant receiver battery to take the hard loads without taking the bec.

I advice you to research what batteries and how to connect this before your first flight. Esc can take a serious beating but the bec is not as good as wr superbec ;)
